I'm surprised that you're surprised. I have come to the conclusion that there is no thought process or logic applied to our signings. We just end up signing anyone we can, anyone we can get, anyone who will come here. That's due to titting around and leaving things until last minute. At the moment it stands at 5 including loans. At this stage it doesn't matter where they play or what they're like, clown shoe will hit the panic button and bring in anyone he can. It's what he does. Yet some people still defend The Boy Wonder. It's a disgrace.
Maybe Larsson is instead of Marc Wilson. Sensible signing, gives 4 defensive midfielders, plus can also play on the flanks
Yeah I thought it was noon cut off and the fact he's in the presser now made signing someone by then massively unlikely
We never had much of a chance of signing Kent, basically every top 6/8 side in the Championship wants him.
Not sure how we'll do tomorrow (half-expecting a low scoring defeat) but with this squad we're bottom 8 material and if we don't strengthen and then have a few key injuries we'll be relegation material, playing in front of sub 10k crowds with more boos then cheers at games. Home game highlights on TV will look shocking -thousands of empty seats. Cue, a bit of investment in January (probably loan signings) and then a slight revival and we then may or may nor stay up. No lessons learned from 2016/17 But apart from that I'm quite optimistic. Edit - just realised I've posted this in the wrong thread. Should be in the one 'Calling all pessimists, etc'
We aren't in any danger of going down, the core of the squad is too good. People forget how bad the teams that go down in the Championship are.
With all due respect to Barnsley, but if he's ended up signing for them is he really another one 'we've missed'? Or are we just saying that after any player signs for another club now?
Agreed. What we're lacking is squad depth. Even with the left back problems, our first eleven would do well against most in this division.
