Just had a quick look at a Villa forum and they're largely pissed off with the Elmo signing. They've apparently already got 6 wing backs / full backs and Elmo is no better than any of them. Interesting that they're saying they desperately need to shift a dozen from their squad while we scramble around for 11 pros.
Personally I think the club are actually trying hard to sign players, and very good players too, but have not considered the obvious: Ehab is a tool, players know what he is like, as do agents. The new pay structure for this division won't attract players or encourage players to stay. Add to that the thought of dealing with Ehab while working out a contract. .... Top players were going to leave, this will make us less attractive for new players, we needed to get players in early to convince players to stay/come Loan players will be hard to get in early, clubs go on big tours now and need squads to cover, also managers want to run their eyes over their developing players I feel sorry for LS in this, in his 6 months in the UK he has obviously studied team formations and players, but not the politics of football. The blame for the shambles lies directly at the feet of Ehab and his arrogance
The Allams are ****ers and I'm not surprised most want away. I do hope Lionel Messi doesn't read this after we have met the release clause figure ( £300,000,000). There you go
What I don't understand is how we can bring in a free agent goalie in an instant. There must be plenty of decent free agent outfield players worth a look and especially in our predicament. It's ****ing weird.
Elmo and Robertson confirmed out today then, by the sounds of it. Dawson reportedly looked at by Forest, but sounds tenuous to me. Grosicki still here, but likely to stay? I doubt it. Clucas still here, Newcastle rumours have come and gone over the summer. Likely to stay? 50/50 in my opinion, he'd be one of the hardest to take I think, really came of age last year and could be a linchpin of the side for years to come if looked after. Hernandez still here but his agent touts him around even when we're doing ok in the PL, so no doubt still desperate to get a move now. Wages too spicy for anyone? I suspect he's more likely to go than stay just due to his years long desire to leave. Meyler will stay. The injured players will stay. Diomande will stay. Anyone else? If more go as expected, are we looking at about 15 players to fill out the squad??
World Cup winner Christian Zaccardo is touting himself around on LinkedIn. http://app.football-italia.net/?ref...t#article/footballitalia-105933&menu=news-all
Middlesbrough have signed more players than we have first team players available (just about). They said 2 players would arrive in the next two days. So today's the day. I'm not counting a keeper we didn't need either.
It's not actually David Gold but a spoof account, it was just funny. But I get your point, and yes we are become a laughing stock. When other club supporters are tweeting their sympathy, say they feel sorry for Hull City supporters to have such ****e owners, then things are getting bad.
Just to offer a crumb of comforting optimism, I'd suggest the delay in Robertson first leaving the camp and that he's still to sign suggests we're very much counter negotiating for at the very least a Liverpool player on loan. Expect a keeper to arrive.
Or, perhaps all this is an inspired and cunning plan by the young un to get rid of all the semi-achievers and make a fresh concerted assault on the non-league scene.
I don't understand why we need another keeper, we have promoted a load of youngsters so why not mannion. Marshalls ont out until October (I think) so why sign a keeper
