Being linked on football-rumours.com doesn't count, Bournemouth didn't bid for Dawson and neither did anyone else.

It's one thing the players making noises about not jumping ship and saying what they think the fans want to hear, it's a completely different situation when there's actually an offer on the table. Very naive to think otherwise, it's a job to these players and a short career, they owe us nothing and will do what's best for them.

Or stay put if it's best for their family.

I think you'll find that most will see doubling their wages as being best for their family.

But that's the thing isn't it. He went to a better club with more money. If a bigger or better club than us come in for one of our players offering more money, they'll almost certainly go. Same as if we go in for someone at a lesser club and offer them a payrise.

I'm glad you said 'most'. That's not all. Which is exactly the point we're making.

Some people are arguing for the sake of it which is fine, I'm not too interested. This was my original post, people seem to be unable to grasp that I wasn't saying all players:

Personally, I don't think we've got a single player who'll turn down a move to a Premier League club, but it's a fairly pointless discussion, well see when a bid comes in.

How many players even at City that have no geographical connection (arf) were probably sold against their wishes but still live in the East Riding area? There's quite a few.

Not voluntarily no. Sometimes players have to move as contracts aren't offered/renewed. Different scenario.

I thought we were talking about clubs buying our contracted players?

We don't even have a manager to be loyal to, there's hardly any fans left to be loyal to. Just why would anyone reject a better offer from a better club? What are they being loyal to? Empty seats?

I was highlighting the point that players stay in the area rather than uproot family.

Burns already stated in an interview following the defeat to Spurs that Jak wants to stay at the club.

Because that's what he's told him.

Are you seriously telling me if, say Liverpool, come in for him and double if not treble what he earns with us next season after his wage reduces in a 3 year deal then he'll turn it down to see out his last year with us while he's in his 30s? Because I can 100% guarantee stone cold FACT that he wouldn't.

I wouldn't and im City fan of many years standing and born and raised in Hull rather than someone who has been here a few years from a foreign country and has been No1 for about 6 months of those.

Highly unlikely scenario. He is at the moment being linked with Sunderland.

You can't guarantee anything as FACT as your example is bollocks.

I didn't ask whether it was likely or not. This whole entire discussion was about leaving for a premier league club and earning more money.

Oh and he's being linked in the press with a club that hasn't got a manager - now why on earth would that be? I mean, it couldn't possibly be his agent alerting his availability to other clubs whilst using one who hasn't got a manager to deny it...

It's Watford that he's being linked with most strongly and thinking he'll stay just because he told Burnsy his family is happy in Hull is one hell of a leap of faith.

Watford offer £5m and he's gone. FACT.

That's the other side to this. Clubs will often sell a player even if the player doesn't really want to move. Happens a lot with relegated clubs
Going back in time, Boaz Myhills move was apparently against his wishes. Tony Norman too.
