There is no deadline for signing free agents, I’m pretty sure he said the player had signed for another club.
The other player was Efe Ambrose, but he accepted a trial offer at Derby and it looks like he is signing for them as they also have a centre half injury problem (although because they have a billion players, you couldn’t tell yesterday).
I'm getting my scouting jacket (see what I did there?) on again this week as I'm off to watch Croydon Athletic vs Chatham Town on Tuesday. Chatham have a young, 16 year old winger playing for them who's already had trials at Palace, Fulham and Colchester. Not a fan of the Croydon area, the ladies look like gentlemen. And the gentlemen look like missing links. Which says a lot more about the women.
What's that? I'm only staying Tuesday night, Christ alive I'm not staying any longer than I need to! Staying at the Hilton though, which I imagine is the equivalent of our Campanile?
I’ve gone with a hoodie. Chazz is about 8 sizes smaller than me, if anything wearing one of his vests would get me into a whole other world of trouble.
A hoodie + white lightening : that should work. Shout the word Fam & innit all the time, like a Tourette’s suffer on speed. The locals will great you like a lost relative. Ok Fam
Well, it was a 2-1 win for Croydon down at the Keith Tuckey Stadium. The lad we went to watch for Chatham stood out a mile, but he was hooked after 72 mins. He'll be some player if he gets his shot. For a 16 year old, he can't half shift through the gears, he outpaced their winger by some distance despite starting about 20 yards behind him, and their player was no slow coach. Croydon had a lad called Joe Nwoko, he scored the winning goal, looked strong and hadn't broken a sweat by the end, even at that level the fitness was impressive. There's some talent at this level that could easily play higher up the non-league pyramid and beyond, just a shame there aren't that many clubs looking around anymore.
Tbh - as long as the owners were committed to developing them, I’d be happy with that. Didn’t Brentford adopt a similar strategy?
David Marshall has today confirmed that the club's option to trigger one year extensions has now passed. Useless ****ers.
