One thing about the Emirates is that the views are great, so there isn't any restricted view pricing. Our ticketing system means you can see some games for £25, which is good value. But we have Cat A and Cat B games, city was a Cat A game, so that's why tickets were expensive. I can fully understand not wanting to pay £62, especially if you're going with family. I haven't traveled to away games for a good few years now, but when I was last at WHL the price reflected the view and it was good value

What I meant was that the last time I was at WHL the price was very reasonable, the view wasn't so good, but it was decent enough for the price. The views are great at Saint's stadium, too, PESKIE - one of the best UK stadiums I've had the pleasure to visit - yet their pricing is half yours.

Actually, you're wrong.

The cheapest adult ticket you can get at Cat A games for Arsenal and Southampton respectively is £62 and £38 and whilst I think this is where Arsenal overcharge, it's still not half the price.

However for Cat B games, which are the majority of games the prices are £35.50 and £35 a difference of 5Op

and for Cat C game Arsenal offer the cheaper ticket : £25.50 and £3O a saving of £4.5O

I remember reading the leader of some supporter's association was saying the extra £3billion(or something like that) that the PL made in selling TV rights should have some allocated to getting clubs to put their prices down by a tenner on every ticket. It's a shame to think that this reasonable suggestion will be totally ignored and the new money will either be spent on agents and players wages rising, spending money on new players to make the Premier League the best league in the World again or just to make some chaimen a bit richer.

Notwithstanding the restricted views, again apart from the Cat A games, where I think Arsenal overcharge, it's actually more expensive to watch the majority of games at Spurs than it is at Arsenal.

Germans protest about paying €20 for a game and they get rail travel thrown in. We'd be lucky to pay three times that with travel on top.

I think you're right, unfortunately. I could imagine it being marketed as some kind of 'nostalgic' experience with a lavish PR spin to suit the price.

Also at Emirates, we are at capacity as determined by the local council. So there would be no scope to increase. There's no way the club would make cheaper standing tickets available as they'd ultimately be reducing their matchday revenue.

I own a banana shop. I can get as many bananas as you like. I buy bananas for £1 each. The banana shop next door is selling theirs at £10 each.

What do I charge for mine?

£10, because I know I can get £10 for them. Not £9 to try and steal trade. Not £11 with value added services. £10 is the going rate for bananas and that's what I charge.

Also, given the incorrect example that HAIG gave earlier that Soton charge half of what Arsenal do. This brings up another point. Other than the overpriced Cat A games, the majority of games are Cat B and are actually cheaper at Arsenal than they are at Southampton, for the cheapest ticket. I would argue that the quality of football through the season will be higher at Arsenal than it will be at Soton, so overall, not only are you getting better football, you are getting it at a cheaper price

heard Danny Baker saying that when they once had a debate about ticket prices and the fact that top clubs could survive on £20 a ticket. A few chairmen from the lower tier of football rang in requesting to stop the debate because if it happened then the small clubs could not justify prices of £20 for their games...and anything less and they would struggle to survive.

City's owners will happily spend the best part of £1billion acquiring top players, paying their wages and generally improving the standing of the club, but their fans are expected to pay £62 for a ticket at Arsenal, expensive rail fares etc on top without any assistance from them. They don't mind paying through the nose to buy the title, but the fans can do likewise to watch them.
