Amazing how some people refuse to accept the Allams are less than perfect and defend all their actions. When my eldest was 6 months old took him along to City's open day. Over 8,000 there. Pretty good considering we had averaged less than 6,000 for the previous season in Div 3. Wonder if we will have an equivalent of over 26,000 there for this year's? It was an excellent day, chance to go round the ground, see the players training behind the gym, have photos taken with the players. I took ones of mine being held by Keith Edwards, by far the most popular choice on the day, and Mike Smith. Can lay my hands on the Keithy one but the Mike Smith one was put away not long after never to see the light of day since. A game on the BP pitch after. Even 3 seasons later with gates even lower and rugby league ruling the roost, open day still got over 4,000. Allam is like King Midas in reverse.
Precisely. It's almost like they want to try and be friends with the fans again, but rather than say 'sorry, we have ****ed up' and do things properly, they do it in a snide way like this. Heavens sake. Arrange at a convenient time for supporters? Bit of a problem fitting convenient and supporters in the same sentence.
You are talking ****. FACT. Why have all previous Open Days been arranged on weekends? Probably by savvy marketing people at the club knowing how to get people in through the gates, rather than at times when it's inconvenient to most.
It's not for you soft ****. It's for the kids to go to. Having an open day is a good thing. Whining tarts on here just like to whine. If this was on a Saturday you and others would whine like **** you won't go anyway.
There's no penny to drop. If there was an open day in my back garden I wouldn't go to it. I'm not interested in one. You wouldn't go to it whatever the day I'm sure. The club are having one after not doing them for years. It's a good thing and I'm sure the kids who go will love it. The End.
And there's the rub. You think it's a good idea but wouldn't go. I think it's a bad idea (ill conceived anyway) but would go. Having gone to the others previously. It's a chance for 'supporters' starved of football over the summer to get back into feeling part of the club again. Feel part of the bigger team again, buy a shirt, have a look around parts of the ground you wouldn't normally see. There again you are probably right, for all those kids that probably can't afford to go this season this will be the only chance to see the players. If their parents can get time off work that is. As you were.
Okay, so you think it's been well planned and loads are going to turn up, what sort of numbers are going for?
