    This is a no brainer.
If the Allams can't own the place outright, and can't see that happening as a realistic option moving forward, then they need to ditch it.

This absolves them of all the overheads, the upkeep, the uncertainty, and replaces that with a fixed and predictable rent.
The council get it back and can then pay to make it bigger, and charge proper rent.

It may seem like the Allams are throwing away a long, peanut rent lease agreement, but it's not the rent that is the issue. It is all about expansion and upkeep, and on costs..

a 60k stadium in Goole would be perfect, increase humber bridge toll charge to £10 on matchdays too and make Scunny a catchment area, killing them off and changing the name to EYNL Tigers (East Yorkshire & North Lincolnshire Tigers)

Agreed, but I think the press merry-go-round indicates the deal is done, and we are being softened up for the announcement.

Isn't there a way that Allam could fund the stadium increase and still not own the property? Lets say he pays for the stadium increase (20 million pounds) by taking out a loan (if we stay up that is) and then we sign a new lease and get the next 15 years rent and maintenance free. Something like that anyway might work. I am sure the accounting could be worked out in a way that the club and council both get something out of the deal. I know that would require both sides sitting down, not acting like children and working together.

Nope. The very thing TG said the Allams wanted to do, hardly likely the council would do that.

You're building up ahead of steam on nothing.

Yeah I think for me, like Castro there's too many maybes, plus off I wouldn't trust HCC to run a bath which explains my nervousness about this. On the bright side I can't see HCC getting one over the Allams so it will probably turn out ok for us.

Softened up means propaganda, and feeding information to the media to lessen the shock of an announcement and establish an argument in advance.

Come on, some of you need hand holding!

Whether it happens or not, the argument is sensible as someone needs to own the stadium so they can develop it. The Allams tried and failed so they either ditch it or keep trying. I think they see they have lost the chance to buy it outright.

Have you not seen how all the political parties leak info in advance of any major announcement. It helps gauge opinion and prepare.

    Anyway... TWT as they say.

The council offered the Allams a joint venture to build the sports village. They said no. Seems like the Council thought it was such a good idea they'd even help build it.

The Council have looked at a number of sites for a sports village, with TG at the helm. It was part of the thinking with the proposal to shut Ennerdale a while back. The last place I heard they were looking was Albion St car park.

The Council is unlikely to default on the mortgage payments. That is the difference.

Why don't HCC offer AA a 100 year lease on the KC?
HCC keep ownership and AA has time to develop it and get his cash back.
FC moved out to Costello and told to stand on their own two feet with maybe a £1m sweeter off the council which could be the price they sell the 100 year lease for?

Hull FC have a signed user agreement for KC just like Hull City do, so unlikely to be moved out to Costello, also who pays for the redevelopment of Costello in this plan ?

I don't think the council would have any issue with a long term lease, but for some reason AA seems to see any sort of lease as renting rather than owning it.

All of this is pretty academic, as I don't believe AA is remotely interested in a development now, I think he'll try and secure Premier League survival before flogging the club over the summer.

There is no need to panic flight mechanic, the egg chasers are but one relegation away from oblivion. I am not sure if there will be anything to administer or if it will be a straight bankruptcy but I know of A Person who does know about this sort of thing. It will all come out in the wash, it always does.
