Gibbo was in the "G" period Gow, Galley, Garland, Gibson might have been a couple more with First names!
From that period Gibson, Jacobs, Gow, Galley of course and Crowe stick out

I RACKED MY THOUGHTS for his name knew he came from Scotland's highlands area ... didnt we sell him to the Blue few for a profit ... I know we sold Garland to Chelsea?? for 100k? then got him back after a couple of years?

 

This why he left City??

 

I thought he got a big for his boots, thought he was too good for us, obviously I’m not itk so maybe doing him an injustice .

He was indeed Scottish and the same era as Gerry Gow and Tom Ritchie
We sold Garland to Chelsea for £110k who (I think) sold him to Leicester before we brought him back to save us from relegation in the second season of being in the top flight
My parents in law also bought a house from Donnie Gillies in about 1976 down by where the Glasscutter pub and Berger Paints used to be

 

Gow and Ritchie came down together as youths, I don’t think Gillies did though did he?, although I can’t for the life of me remember where we got him from, and or for how much.

 

Gillies lived in Hallatrow for a while in the 70's.
Seen him quite regularly when racing at Wincanton in the pub at Evercreech Junction.

Gillies, Cashley, Ritchie and others

 

I used to see them in Platform 1.

Gow lived in Whitchurch and used to drink at the shield and dagger.

 

I used to love it there!!!

 

Brian Drysdale lived in Stockwood and I’d see him frequently running in and around Whitchurch

Money and ego. Falling out with Johnson. It is fair to note Steve Phillips had a falling out with Johnson, it was not unusual for the Manager. When Adriano Basso left City it took him a significant time to find a club. That is a measurement of how good Basso was.
