My son works in the Pig on the Hill.

I was referring to the bums on seats issue, rather than the financial ethics, as that was the point in question. Also I wasn't talking about Bristol City as such, but rather about the bigger clubs with corporate money behind them (Man City, Chelsea, QPR, Wolves etc).
To go and watch Arsenal when I lived in Highbury for instance would have cost me over £40 at the time, or £65 in current times. That seems to me to be extortionate, and excludes taking the kids to watch. The follow on from this is empty seats, loss of atmos, and a generation of kids who never had the experience of watching footy for real like we had. A quick read of our national side's tournament history over the last 50 years is a realistic reflection on the outcome of this.
Football has been alienating itself from the general public in this way for generations, and it places the future of the game (and the clubs) here on a fragile footing, where clubs are run on subsidies and TV rights while transfers and business leeches (agents) fees spiral out of any sense of reality. And there really is no obvious answer to the financial dilemma of 2016 English football.
If City (and others like them) wish to bring back 60s and 70s sized crowds, they will have to bite the bullet with regard to ticket prices for some considerable time to come in order to re-introduce the cult of watching it to the new generations - something that I just cannot see happening
