Gerrard did a job for us in our transistion season but his not coming back is of no great concern. Other centre halves are available.
Not many deals will be done until the season is over.BPL and playoffs still finish. Then players on holidays. No real action until mid June.
Does anyone else think Chester is a touch small.Notice he tends to head ball up and doesnt clear the edge of the box.
Although Gerrard was great while he was here, what Cardiff will want fo him will be over priced, and he wasn't that keen on being here. I really rate Chester but Ayala and Hobbs would be Promotion winning material. If we have all three come next season with someone like Shackell as 4th choice we'll be in a great position. I know there is a couple of years between them both, but will Hobbs and Ayala know each other from their Liverpool days? I know from a GOOD source Hobbs wants to come back too.
If we sign Hobbs and Ayala (probably on loan if we get Hobbs aswell), I will feel really sorry for Chester, because he left Man United and probably came here expecting first team football every week. Chances are he would be back-up CB or play CM and become a new scapegoat. But then again, I wouldn't say no to having Hobbs, Ayala and Chester as our main CBs!
I wouldn't object to a 3-1-6 formation. Nothing -NOTHING - would get past a back-three of Ayala, Hobbs and Chester.
All this talk about Cardiff wanting ã3M is a bit premature. Don't they have pretty big debts still that they may have been stalling on payments for because of the probability (which it seemed not long ago) of PL money next season. Now it's not happening who's to say they won't have to sell some players on the cheap to get money in and reduce their wage bill as creditors start to get a bit more worried about receiving their money.
but i reckon gerrard will want oli's wages and possibly more! There's better value within easier reach.
