Just a postscript to breaking FFP rules. Sky News are reporting (and Arsenal livid) that the boss of the EPL refs (i forgot his name, but he was appointed to stop mistakes) has apologised to Arsenal about a VAR decision. Apparently the VAR official (another Premier ref) forgot to use the lines across the pitch to check for offside (it was). Brentfords goal stood and it finished 1-1. I wonder if the VAR ref now has lots of Dirhams in his bank account. Since chitty have cheated on everything else, why not bribery?
Lee Mason. Not the first time with him either. We have three or four good refs, the rest are average or awful. Yet apparently, according to Keith Hackett, £23m has been spent on making them better. What on!?
He's a good coach no doubt. But when you've only been at teams with the best players you should do well. If he went to say Swansea now, worked on their budget, coached them up and kept them up easily, I'd be more impressed than him winning leagues here and elsewhere with unlimited money. Where's the Champion's League Pep?
Bribery l suspect, standard of refereeing is poor and the VAR situation leaves decision making to others. Linesmen rarely intervene let play go on when it is a clear offside. Great article by ex ref Mark Halsey on corruption of referees if anyone can find it. During a rugby match and they use the video ref, you get to hear what everybody is saying, which suggests football is hiding something,. Time for fans of Premier clubs to rise up. That decision alone could cost Arsenal the title and dare l say it another stitch up.
