Good reminder.
I don't bet and personally think it's a mugs game. You only tend to hear about the winnings. It has ruined too many lives.
I guess it's a question for the mods / Not 606 as to whether they really should be facilitating a betting thread even? No religion, no politics, but betting is ok? Hmmn.

I don't drink or anything like that, i don't really go out so i sit and enjoy a little bet and watch it when was the last time say you won on a pint at least i have an opportunity to win, do you do the lottery or health lottery?.,people go spend loads going out and stuff i don't think it is a mugs game as long as you are able to control what you spend and don't be greedy.

Why a question for the mods?, what have the mods got to do with it some probably bet anyway, why would it bother anyone if there is a betting thread you don't know me so why worry about it.

Not 606 has a specific section for racing and gambling, so it's more a question for posters on this board whether a thread like this remains, or we direct people over to the existing section. https://www.not606.com/#racing-gambling.174

I can see both sides of it, and I'm easy either way, but would be interested in peoples views.

As this was moved here to avoid disrupting the takeover thread, it'd be wrong to disrupt it with a discussion here, so I'll ask the question in a thread of its own.

I take your points, and wouldn't disagree. Ultimately, I don't think it should be a unilateral decision by the mods, as we're just housekeepers and cleaners, and in my view, it's the board users that should decide.

I'll start a new thread to gauge opinion.

Maybe Gone for a very long walk on a very short pier should also suggest to you a thread on if we have a right to breathe unless everyone thinks it's ok.

A few of us have come here Syd kindly set it up for us and we are Hull City fans we do not i think want to be doing our bets in a general 606 thread with every club i do not see any issues or why some might not want us to have it, they do not have to read the thread.

personaly never understod the ban on poitics , i have no interest in discussing it but some of the ****e that gets spouted on here ( much by me ) dont see the issue if other people want too discuss it, do people get really offended if their party is called ****?

in my opinion, only things that shouldnt be discussed are religion and peoples sexuality, things that can cause real offence.
if anyting the xmas thread is just as offensive and dangerous as this one, some people do not celebrate it and half of that is just about booze, which i would guess wrecks just as many lives

The politics ones turn toxic, and that can then bleed into other threads. From a moderation perspective, it's far better not to have one.

First sentence really unnecessary.

Maybe, just maybe, the troubles with betting aren't an issue with you personally, but it is for many, many people. Just like drug abuse, alcohol abuse, pornography, and other stuff. If we had threads for them, you or someone else, might well be saying the same as you are saying about betting ("what's the issue; I can handle it blah blah") which totally misses the point.

You have no idea who's reading these threads and what it might tempt them into (or further into). I just don't think it's for a board about Hull City. But it's not my board, so whatever; I just felt the need to share my view (which I'm perfectly entitled to do).

Her in doors usually wins more times than me as she does none league southern leagues , national leagues every week she does a 50 game one for £1 which can pay up to £500,000 she has got 49 before, and she usually does one with a lot less teams,but it's good fun watching it on futbol24 as scores come in and you tick them off.

To do more than 20 games on you're bet you need to go into the shop and use the BGT machine which she uses Ladbrokes, if you get a grid card from the people behind the counter and scan that before picking your bet it means you can go home and log in and if there is a cash out you can do it on your computer saves running to shop.
