Looks an open race this one and our selection is give a real chance by the handicapper. With the rider claim taken into account - he’s 9lbs lower than last winning mark. Should be fully race fit after a spin at Fontwell when finishing a close 3rd in a race arguably tougher than than this assignment. Singles and 0.5 double : 1.05 - NEWBURY - ROSSE 6/5 - 1 point win This is the horse that beat JUARACON when last seen. JURACON won impressively against solid competition yesterday and the first 2 were 10+ lengths ahead of the competition. Long lay off - the one to beat - hopefully race fit and trying. Exciting horse. 2.52 - NEWBURY - EMITON 7/2 EMITON is back after break - last seen running well at Cheltenham festival. More established than the unexposed fav, achieved more at a higher level at this point in career. Won here at C&D previously. Fav double major is still unexposed and likely to improve but will need to be very good to beat this line up. I will be surprised if NED CASH gets beat in the 1.50 LUDLOW but a bit short now - best price is 5/6 with 365. 3.10 SOUTHWELL - LADY OF SPAIN 2/1 - 1 point win Unbeaten currently but made to work hard by APPROVAL at Wolves when last seen on track which was 6 months + ago in March… APPROVAL won the class 3 handicap at GOODWOOD festival in August so it's safe to say that March win for LADY OF SPAIN was an impressive one. James Doyle takes over on the ride today but she does race horse's that have fitness on side which is the main concern. 3.35 LUDLOW - THE KNIPHAND 15/8 - 1 point win There can be no fitness doubts with THE KNIPHAND who ran his best race to date at Southwell early last month. Although only a novice handicap, he did beat NEXT LEFT who has ran well since and a decent prospect. The manner in which he won over the 3 mile trip was impressive. VIP FRIDAY TIPS: 12.50 FONTWELL - ELECTRIC MASON 11/4 - 1 point win 1.25 FONTWELL - SAMAZUL 15/8 - 1 point win 3.00 EXETER - ASIAN SPICE 4/1 - 1 point win 3.35 EXETER - WISEGUY 12/1 - 0.5 EW win Bryony Frost is back from France and she has been booked for two rides at Exeter today. The first ride is in the 2.25 on SANS BRUIT who is 5/1. I think her best chance of a winner is with tracker horse ASIAN SPICE who is 4/1 currently best priced. The race looks winnable for ASIAN SPICE who ran 4th here on seasonal debut last month. He should strip fitter for that run and is a dual winner at this track. In all honesty I felt this horse was going to progress a bit more than it did last year but the first run of the season is encouraging and this looks good value with Bryony back on board who won on ASIAN SPICE here just over a year ago. HARRY COBDEN has a pretty solid book of rides today at EXETER. He rides 6 horses near the top of the market including 2 odds on favs. Most notably CAPTAIN TEAGUE who will be looking to bounce back from his festival dissapoinment in the Albert Bartlett. There’s definitely more to come from this horse. It’s hard to see HARRY not coming away with at least two winners today. I wouldn’t put anyone off a small lucky on his rides but most are too short for singles in competitive races. I think we can take a chance on WISEGUY at 12/1 for the Henderson team. Last season didn’t go to plan but he did win on his reappearance over C&D before going on to run disappointingly when tried in the premier handicaps. He’s only 2lbs higher now than last years win and looks a fair EW chance today. At Fontwell I really fancy ELECTRIC MASON who is 11/4 for the Gordon team. I’ve had a small go today but we might have to wait for the win on this one if LAURENS BAY continue progression under Gavin Sheehan (one of best performing jockeys at the moment) - we are definitely value at 11/4 over the 1/2 price on the fav and ELECTRIC MASON has shown more than enough promise to back today. The pair look to be the obvious forecast for the race. SAMAZUL looks the one to beat for me at FONTWELL - it’s the Jones and Pauling combo that let us down yesterday but todays a new day and hopefully they can get the job done this time round. Several winners yesterday including a 4/1 nag VIP Saturday Few more guys going to take the dog out and then see if there's anymore I like for the day at the other meets!!! 1.30 AINTREE - HARBOUR LAKE 7/2 - 1 point win Best form in the race and ran against higher rated horses most recently at Cheltenham with a second place in April amongst a wealth of horses rated in the 130’s. This fav GUARD THE MOON will need to improve again, he’s has race fitness on his side but I think it could be a very stiff task. If HARBOUR LAKE is fit then I think he is the one to best. I’m encouraged by the fact that he has won after the summer break in the past. 2.55 WINCANTON - BRENTFORD HOPE 7/4 - 1 point win Shocking field here - jumps racing in the UK looks in bit of trouble looking at the past few days runners in big races. This is a Grade 2 with £70,000 on offer and we are going to be racing with 3 entrants…. Sad really. The field size has never been massive but progressively gets smaller each year… We receive 6lb on the fav RUBAUD today. He’s race fit and one of the few Nicholls horses that has won over the past month. BRENTFORD HOPES form has been franked from PUNCHESTOWN where he ran in behind DADDY LONG LEGS but this will be harder. RUBAUD is no slouch and neither is ASPIRE TOWER. De Bromhead has not sent the horse to make up the numbers and he can’t be entirely ruled out, 3.30 WINCANTON - FORWARD PLAN 6/1 - 0.5 point EW 4 places are paid on SKY here in what looks to be one of the days best races. A smaller 0.5 EW bet here due to the competitive nature. This will provide Cheltenham clues. LORD ACCORD has been unbelievably popular with the pundits today - tipped up 10 times !!! MOFASA is a horse I will be looking at betting on after Christmas - I hope he runs well today but hard to be confident with that yard at present. You can’t count anything out in this race - AL DANCER and THE BIG BREAKAWAY are both elder statesmen at this point but still capable of big runs. Don’t forget AL DANCER has run to a rating of mid 150’s which is significantly higher than anything else in this race… At 11 years old though you would think it’s over to the next generation of chasers to show what they are capable of…. I will keep looking so keep eye on notifications. Draw will be key for SUANNI who has stall 2, front runs and needs the rail. Rossa Ryan booked and he’s operating off a near 40% strike rate. SCHOOL FOR SCANDAL was a lucky winner for us LTO - prob would of settled for 2nd if not for the faller but he’s off a low weight today and on better terms than rival JONY MAX who we beat quite convincingly - it won’t make much sense if JONY MAX finishes ahead of us today based on the fact he’s 6lbs worse off - but you never know. The fav in this race is deffo the one to beat. He was a beaten fav last time out after a bad mistake but you had to be impressed with how the horse fought back to finish a close 4th place. It looks a tough nut to crack and the two make up the likely FORECAST for forecast players. Luke Morris maintains the ride. This is a horse that is not without complications - he’s a slow starter - he often sits near the back in races and strikes late. This has seen him lose races with traffic issues or being left with too much to do. Something seemed to click last time out as he traveled a dream and easily dispatched the favourite, pulling away at the line to win by nearly 4 lengths. If he’s in the same mood he shouldn’t be stopped today despite an unfavourable draw. 2.40 - CARLISLE - MALFOY MANOR 25/1 - 0.25 EW Tried in a class 3 hurdle novice where he finished a creditable 6th of 14th runners. That experience could go along way for this horse today who is a big price at 25/1. He’s dropping in class today and it could well give him a chance. It’s obvious this horse is learning on the job so I’m not fully sure what to expect of him today but I certainly did not expect the price to be so big. He’s value on 365 at 25/1 in my opinion and this is emphasised by the fact he’s as short as 14/1 elsewhere. Someone has the price wrong here and let’s hope it’s something we can take advantage off and it’s in our favour. 3.40 - FAKENHAM - DINDIN 6/1 - 1 point EW This conditional jockeys handicap looks a competitive one with the top 5 in the market having ready chances. The favourite LUNAR CONTACT won LTO but must carry a penalty today which makes him vulnerable to some of the older horses in the race who are lurking on dangerous marks. DINDIN looks good value here with bet 365 at 6/1. He is as short as 4/1 elsewhere but EW price is still available with 365. At 11 years old, he’s by far the oldest horse in the line up but arrives with a mark that has dropped a few lbs below his last winning effort last year. He has a 5lb claimer on which will help, but most of these horses are mounted by jocks with a claim, including the favourite. Trainer David Pipe is in form, he has 5 winners over the last fortnight with an 18% winning strike rate but over 50% of his last 30 runners have made the podium to place. DINDIN ran ok when last out. He was 4th in a class 4 race off a mark of 94, he runs in a class 5 event today with a further 1lb shaved off. More notably he will get good ground today - his last 3 wins have come on good ground.
