VIP Saturday : Ste has done these for us tomorrow guys ASCOT DAY 5 Chesham stakes 1430 NEMONTE 14/1 EW PEARLS AND RUBIES I think is a worthy favourite in this, the no nay never filly won on debut at Navan over 5f beating I Am Invictus by neck, she's got obvious improvement to come from a yard that have won this four times from the last 7 runnings but I'm taking a chance on NEMONTE at an eachway price, also a winner on debut when just getting her head infront in a 17 runner race over 6f, she's well bred with plenty of speed in her pedigree and I think she has plenty of improvement to come with Sheehy retaining the ride. Jersey stakes 1505 HOLLOWAY BOY 10/1 EW Like pearls and rubies I think COVEY is probably right favourite and the one to beat, he looks like he's got some serious class and frankies in the saddle but HOLLOWAY BOY could be a dark horse in this, he was dropped straight into listed company on his debut last year when winning the Chesham on this card over course and distance at 40/1 very comfortably with numerous group winners coming out of that and he showed he has some real class when finishing runner up over 7f at goodwood in a group 2 on just his second start with the one behind winning a group two nto in France, again took the runner up spot dropped into a group 3 at Newmarket nto and followed that up with a decent third back at that course a few weeks later when going off at 2/1 favourite, stepped up to group 1 company for his final start of the year and ran a blinder to finish third with the winner AUGUSTE RODIN going on to win the Epsom Derby earlier in the month, only 9th in the 2000 guineas last month but that was his first start of the year back from a 196 day break and he should strip fitter today, worth a eachway at 10/1. Queen Elizabeth II jubilee stakes 1540 ROAHAAN 10/1 Wide open race this one but ROAHAAN look set for a massive run, he's a four time winner over course and distance from six runs winning at this meeting in the last two seasons, had a busy campaign last year running in 7 group races winning twice, both them wins come here over CD with the most recent being a group 3 in October and he ran well in defeat in some of them other starts, has something to find with a couple of these and he finished back of the field in listed company lto but that was back from over 200 days off and I think he'll be much better here at a course he seems to thrive at plus he's 1lb below his last winning mark, this would of been the aim and Kirby takes the ride who I thinks only had one other runner here so far this week. Hardwicke stakes 1620 DEAUVILLE LEGEND 9/1 EW HUKUM is a very smart type and showed his class with a group 3 win at Sandown on his return from a 356 day break beating dessert crown by half a length, he was a group one winner last year on his only start on UK soil at Epsom when he had PYLEDRIVER behind and he won one of his two group races at meydan with the two behind that day winning group races since, he's a two time winner over CD and Jim Crowely rides having got ten wins on board so he is a pretty worthy favourite but then you've got PYLEDRIVER at around double the price who's 2-2 over CD and beat the likes of Broome, westover and Emily upjohn lto over CD in the king George VI stakes with Emily upjohn going on to win the coronation Cup earlier in the month, don't think the long lay off is a concern and I think she's the value out the two but it's DEAUVILLE LEGEND I'm keeping onside with here at eachway value, he was my favourite horse of the flat season last year and I was gutted he flopped at the Melbourne Cup out in Australia on his final start as a 3 year old despite being backed from 8s to 3/1 favourite after having such a good campaign with form figures of 12121 which included a group 2 and 3 win at York and Newmarket with group winners coming out of both and he finished runner up on his only run over CD on his second start last year with plenty of winners coming out of that, I think and hope he can be even better as a four year old and looks worth chancing here.
2. BEST OF THE REST 1534 Ayr- MINNETONKA 22/1 EW Won on debut around this time last year over 6f at salisbury with six behind winning since before being thrown into listed company nto were she finished 5th at 7/4 favourite with the winner lazoo going on to win a group 1&3, again behind that winner when finishing 4th at 7/1 second favourite in a group 3 nto and filled the same position over 5f dropped back into listed company on just her fourth career start, no better than 4th on her four starts since but the latter of those came in group races with a couple of winners going in since including in group company and she didn't run all that badly on her two starts this year coming in listed company, she must be showing something at home and this looks the easiest race she's probably contested in since debut, she's on a lower mark than her 4th place finish in a group 3 on her final start last year and her only win came on this surface, could be over priced. 1522 Redcar- HICKORY 4/1 Returned last year after 792 days off to get back to back wins after a winning debut in 2020 and although he has been a beaten favourite on both starts this year going no better than fourth all 3 wins have come at this distance and he could have more to come on the turf having won on his only run on this surface, few could go well here but worth chancing at 4/1. 1527 Perth- LERMOOS LEGEND 2/1 LERMOOS LEGEND looks to have a good opportunity to get back to winning ways here. Beaten favourite the last twice but did finish runner up in those and looks to be coming back into form, drops in class here off a good mark and the one to beat for the inform yard with SAO who also drops in class and is on a career low mark looking the main danger.
Either Ryan Moore has a great day or just stick a pin in the list of runners can’t think of a worse royal ascot
Bet Baldrick Donald Trump's missing golf clubs found inside top secret boxes, that's why he took them home to check. He claims he may have left them there by mistake - 500/1
One of the horses I bought a share in for my Dad (owners group) runs today STAR PLAYER. Fancied today according to the message they sent out, hoping the rain doesnt arrive by the time it runs. When it ran last time what they said would happen did...
I was just sat screaming Nooooooooooooo! at the TV as Fifty Grand Slater went 3 lengths clear inside the final furlong.. thankfully for me it got collared. Hope everyone else missed it...
