Decent day yesterday. Be lucky 13:30 Taunton, Spartan Army 1pt win @ 1.66 several bookies 17:05 Hexham, Chance The Robin 1pt win @ 1.57 several bookies 6:00 Wolverhampton, Timedtoperfection - 1pt e/w 22/1 generally With plenty of money coming for last night's selection 'Mr Gloverman' it means the bookies' have had to push out the prices of many of the other competitors, and I think they might have overdone it slightly with this filly, who although well-beat in each of her 3 races which have all been at Newcastle, she never helped herself by racing keenly each time. But she did looked to settle a little better last time when finishing 5th behind a few nice types, and she may have had more to give at the end under a very sympathetic ride. She'll need to settle better tonight, but there should be a bit more pace for her to follow, and at this less stiff track over the same trip, from a nice draw, I think this nice-looking daughter of 'Time Test' might outrun her current odds. 1:50 pm Warwick - Carrarea 6/4 (1 Point) 5:22 pm Naas - Mirazur West 11/8 (4 Points) 17:30 Wolverhampton, Cedar Cage 1pt win @ 3.50 with 21 bookies 14:10 Hexham, Choix Des Armes 0.5pt each-way @ 8.50 (3 places @ 1/5) 16:30 Hexham, En Meme Temps 0.5pt each-way @ 12.00 (3 places @ 1/5)

Be lucky 13:30 Kempton, Burglar 1pt win @ 1.44 most bookies 2:40 pm Kempton - Cliffs Of Capri 50/1 Each Way (1 Point) 4:37 pm Stratford - Dom Of Mary 6/4 (3 Points) 2.25 Doncaster – Isla Kai – 1 Point Each Way - 6/1 BetVictor, Corals, Unibet, Betfred, Boylesports, Ladbrokes, otherwise 11/2 Majority of Bookmakers Paying Top 5 Places. Certainly the class horse in this as you’d expect off top weight, but he’s fairly handicapped off 92, having been rated as high as 100 last season. He was generally forced to race on ground quicker than ideal last season, and will really appreciate conditions here. He’s only raced on soft ground twice, winning both races and whilst they weren’t as competitive as some of the races he subsequently ran in, he clearly handles soft ground very well. A close 4th in the Newbury Spring Cup on his reappearance last season, he goes well fresh and running off a 7lb lower mark here, he can be expected to be very competitive. 3.00 Doncaster – Asjad – 1 Point Win – generally 7/2 A progressive sprinter towards the end of last season when he encountered his preferred underfoot conditions, so the soft ground here will really suit. Two wins from three races when running on soft ground, his only defeat saw him just fail to give Dakota Gold weight here at Doncaster, where he finished his race off really strongly. He won on his reappearance last season, is still relatively lightly raced for a 5yo, so has more improvement to come and should go close. 3.35 Doncaster – Baradar – ½ Point Each Way - 14/1 Paddy Power, generally 12/1 Top 6 Places with Bet365, Skybet, Paddy Power, William Hill, Unibet, otherwise 5 Places Returned to form on his final start last season which was his debut for his new yard having failed to win when trained in Ireland. He’d previously been trained by Roger Varian as a 2yo and showed some very high class form, especially when a fine 3rd in the Group 1 Futurity Stakes. That like his win for his current stable back in November was when racing on really soft ground, a surface that clearly suits. He’s up 4lbs for that win but won with a bit more in hand than that suggests as he travelled considerably better than his rivals, before just being pushed out to win comfortably. He's sure to be plenty fit enough for his reappearance, as you’d like to think all of todays runners would be; Baradar looks to have plenty in his favour, 4.10 Doncaster – Imperial Fighter – 2 Points Win – generally 4/1 This represents a big drop in class for Imperial Fighter who was last seen in the French Derby. Well beaten that day, he faced an impossible task from a wide draw, so that can easily be excused. He’d previously run a cracker when a staying on 3rd in the Irish Guineas behind Native Trail. A very good 2yo as shown when not beaten far behind Luxembourg in the Futurity here at Doncaster, he showed he handled soft ground really well that day, so conditions here should suit. 2.05 Kempton – Phantom Flight – 1 Point Win – generally 10/3 Not quite sure what went wrong on his final start at Ayr, but he’d previously been very progressive and was extremely impressive the time before at York when annihilating a decent field of handicappers at York. In a race where he travelled ominously well, he quickened like a class horse to win by an easy looking 5 lengths off a mark of 98, suggesting he’s well capable of being competitive at group level. He’s bred to improve with age and looks an exciting 4yo for the season to come. 3.15 Kempton – Aztec Empire – 2 Points Win – 5/4 Bet Victor, Unibet, Boylesports, generally 6/5 A little shorter in the market than we’d hoped, but he looks to be a potentially progressive stayer, winning with a good deal in hand on his first start over this trip last time. He’d only run 4 times previously which included a win over 1m4f in a novice event, he showed a large amount of improvement for the longer trip last time; travelling very well he quickened clear and just seem to idle in front a little, probably due to inexperience, so the winning margin didn’t reflect his superiority. He’ll improve again for that experience and could be a nice stayer this season for connections. 16:02 Stratford, Dellboy Trotter 0.5pt each-way @ 11.00 most bookies (4 places @ 1/5) 16:30 Uttoxeter, Cuban Pete 0.5pt each-way @ 26.00 most bookies (3 places @ 1/5)
1:40 pm Downpatrick - Law Ella 6/4 (2 Points) 16.10 Ascot, Kraqueline 1 point e/w @ 6/1 @ Bet365, Sky Bet, Betfred 1/5 @ 1234 places 13:35 Doncaster, Captain Haddock 0.5pt EW @ 7.00 (1/5TH PLACE TERMS TO 4 PLACES) with 8 bookies 15:55 Doncaster, First Officer 1pt win @ 3.75 with 7 bookies 5.20 Ascot – Ivaldi – 1 Point Each Way 9/2 William Hill, Bet Victor, Unibet, generally 4/1 A work in progress for the Paul Nicholls yard, but he’ll really enjoy the soft surface here having won on heavy ground in France and shown a liking for some juice in the ground when a very promising 4th here at Ascot over almost 3 miles in February. He was a little disappointing last time, but that was on ground that was perhaps quicker than ideal. He’s a nice type and will surely prove a good deal better than his mark in time, with a big run anticipated on what is likely to be his final outing this season.

A daughter of Sea The Stars, she has shown a decent level of form in all her 3 starts to date and a handicap mark of 79 looks very workable. Runner up on her debut to an Odds On stablemate, she then finished 2nd to a nice type from the William Haggas yard, where the 4th has since run really well at Doncaster. Runner up again at Chelmsford where the winner reversed the form from their last race with the rest of the field well beaten. Mountain Song has shown plenty of pace in those races, so a drop back in trip looks sure to suit and she’s the one to beat.
