He’s pretty well handicapped over fences compared to hurdles, the stable are in great form and he should and Lord Baddesley can gain his first success over the larger obstacles here. Notebook Comments: Kempton, Lord Baddesley Having disappointed when sent over fences last season, he’s been back over hurdles for a year, so whilst this wasn’t his chase debut, it was still a very deep race for his return to chasing. Given a quiet ride, he warmed to the task and while not getting near the winner he stayed on into a very respectable 4th place. He probably prefers slightly better ground as well and if building on this he should progress into a decent handicap chaser. 3.30 Plumpton – Prince Imperial – 2/1 Bet365, generally 7/4 Th eligibility to run in a handicap after just two runs over hurdles has always been questionable, and connections look to be potentially taking advantage of that here, with Prince Imperial seemingly off a very attractive handicap mark. He’s a mid 90’s handicapper on the flat, so to be off a rating of just 112 suggests he could be thrown in. Two runs over an inadequate 2 miles, he steps up to a more suitable trip here and an improved effort can be expected, albeit he ran behind two classy types last time.

Reports suggest he's improved again for that run and should be hard to beat, but again isn't ideally drawn and at around 5/4 we're happy to watch him win without advising as a bet. 3.15 Wetherby – Front View (e/w) – 13/2 Unitbet, Corals, Ladbrokes - generally 6/1 Made a very encouraging return to action at Cheltenham at the end of last month after almost 2 years off the track. That was a high quality handicap and this is certainly an easier race. He’d previously shown a decent level of form over hurdles prior to a season over fences and was sent off favourite for the Martin Pipe at the Festival in 2020 off a 9lb higher mark than he races off today. He’s a very interesting runner and if as expected comes forward for that run, should be very competitive here, with hopefully all 8 runners going to post. 16:50 Wetherby, Pileup 0.5pt each-way @ 10.00 most bookies (5 places @ 1/5) 17:30 Kempton, Desert Cop 1pt win @ 4.33 several bookies 6:00 Kempton, Starlight Nation - 1pt win 7/2 generally Caught the eye both in the race and in the parade ring on debut, as this big stamp of a horse was a real head turner both by his sheer presence, and by him playing up a little in the paddock. That greenness then transcended on to the race-track, as after a slow start, he bumped a rival around the 3 pole and became unbalanced on the bend, but once he found his stride down the home run, he was making some eye-catching progress from the furlong marker. There's no guarantee that he won't be just as green tomorrow, but I'm hoping that his first run will have ironed out a bit of that temperament as he looks like he might have a huge amount of untapped ability, and potentially, could one day be a force to be reckoned with. Whether he's ready to win or not tomorrow we'll just have to wait and see, but he just looks too nice not to back, and if he can drop just a half of that greenness, then I think he could run a huge race tomorrow. 8:00 Kempton, Haziym - 1pt e/w 28/1 B365/Hills 22/1 generally French import who clearly needed his first run at Wolver for Tony Carroll, and although well beat again last time when stepped up to 7f, I thought he improved on that first effort by some way. He was slowly away that day and raced keenly in rear, before making his effort near-side and away from the main action. His effort petered out towards then end which is understandable given how keen he was during the first two furlongs. He's dropping back to 6f and slightly in grade tomorrow, and although drawn wide with the potential of a moderate/slow pace, there's two rivals dropping in trip who both like to lead/race prom, one of which is wearing the blinkers for the first time which can often make horses run quicker, and if a decent pace materialises, then I think he can go well and hopefully finishing better than anything else towards the end of the race.

10 days in, 30 horses, profit of 39.2 points. A month in for me on this 126 points profit. And no, I am not revealing my "point" stake. Whether some sort of correction kicks in down the line remains to be seen, but for now it is beating the sporting life tipsters easily.
Here we go £££££ 1.15 Sandown: Freddy Robinson – 10/3 Bet365, 3/1 Skybet, generally 11/4 Looks to be well treated for his handicap debut, especially based on his recent 4th in the Listed Scottish Triumph Hurdle. Slightly outpaced at the sharp track, he kept at it and stayed on strongly in the run to the line to be beaten only a couple of lengths. The winner is well regarded by the Paul Nicholls yard, the 2nd and 3rd are rated 118 and 123 respectively and Freddy Robinson was giving them 3lbs. So a mark of 106 looks to underestimate him and he’s shown he backs up a recent run when winning his previous start. 2.25 Sandown – Deeply Superficial – generally 7/4 A very nice mare coming over from Ireland where her form from when 4th at Navan last time, having won well on her debut, has worked out really well. The winner and third have both finished runner up in competitive grade 1 hurdles at the Dublin Racing Festival, whilst the runner up subsequently bolted up by 12 lengths. That looks stronger form than that of her main market rival and she looks the one to beat 15:00 Sandown, Broken Halo 1pt win @ 2.50 several bookies 15:55 Newcastle, Return Fire 1pt win @ 3.75 most bookies 16:30 Newcastle, Ivetwiggedit 1pt win 18:00 Chelmsford, Magical Max 1pt win @ 9.00 most bookies 18:30 Chelmsford, Got No Dollars 1pt win @ 6.50 several bookies 20:00 Chelmsford, The Bay Warrior 1pt win @ 3.00 several bookies
