Think he'd be a much better option than the likes of Rhodes, Maynard and Jelavic that we've been linked to. In my opinion, getting in someone that has played and scored at the top level is more sensible than risking someone who never has in the hope he can. How many players can you name in the past 10 years that has stepped up from the lower leagues (I include Scotland in that) and continued to score at a similar rate?

That said, I'd still rather we went for Olivier Giroud from Montpellier than Cisse, as he's younger and would have a lot more to prove.

Ill be very unhappy if its a permanent signing but Im fine if its a loan.

It smacks of a panic buy spending £4m on a 30 yo who was never that good in the 1st place. 1 goal in 17 games this season, thats a worse strike rate than Bothroyd.

Just look at what sunderland fans think. He would be a quality signing!

Wow! Sunderland fans really rate him. Thats enough to change my mind! 1 in 17 for Lazio isnt great but if he is anything like what Sunderland fans say he is on that thread we should be in for a real treat!

Think I read he has been playing right midfield for Lazio, nevertheless Mackie has one more than that!

As said before, he hasn't been playing upfront. When he plays upfront he scores

Good strike rate, powerful, fast and accurate. What's to not want?!!

Pity we play on Wednesday. Hoping Mick McCarthy's post match interview goes along the lines of "Well, when you spend that sort of money, what do you expect?" (Hang dog, miserable expression and depressed tones in voice!).

Still a bit concerned about the time required to gel the team together and shape it too. Money may buy us good players but cannot buy us the time we may crucially need.

McCarthy's agter game excuses are scheduled for Saturday. McCleish's excuses are scheduled for Wednesday after we've stuffed Villa 1-0.

Think the immediate problem is getting players signed, with work permits, English permit, International permits, back from Africa and fit and ready to Die for us like you mate! They can stop at the sooper for the hair gel when they got that lot sorted.

Agree that a light training session (which I think will happen on Wednesday morning but correct me if I'm wrong)...isn't a lot of time to gel in new players...but better to have them than not at all. Worst case scenario is that they are on the bench on Wednesday night watching and realising why they've been signed, and the job they have to do.

For anyone who moans with his goal scoring this year, he's been played right wing. Klose is very good!

It's quite amazing that with the striking options we have that anyone could be against signing an experienced striker with 41 caps for France and a career goalscoring record of nearly one every two games. I think he's a better bet than Zamora, a similar type of player.

Have we ever had a Champions' League winner?

Yes, I am quite excited by Cisse but his record in the Premiership is a long way off 1 in 2.

True, but it's still 1 in 3.65, which isn't terrible.
