Jesus, a couple of you guys on this thread are real doom and gloom merchants. Yes, we have had awful luck this year, bad refereeing, players who have under-performed, player indiscipline etc etc, but talk about another over reaction on this site. Some of you guys really need to calm down. We are not down yet. The club needs everybody behind the team, today, tomorrow and into the future. Some of the comments here are as usual way over the top and childish.
according to wiki ' if a direct red card is shown, then the player in question is dismissed from the field immediately and normally faces a one-, two- or three-match ban depending on the offence' 'Repeated dismissals in the same season will result in ban being extended by one match for each previous dismissal. For example, if a player who already has been sent off twice in the season incurs a third red card for violent conduct, he will be banned for five games (three for the violent conduct plus two on account of the previous dismissals). The FA will also suspend players every time they accumulate five cautions in a season. Players will miss one match after five cautions, two after ten and three after fifteen. Should anyone record twenty cautions in a season he will be summoned to a disciplinary hearing.' 'In the case of a red card that was shown after two yellow cards, the player is dismissed and receives a one-match ban without the right to appeal, excluding mistaken identity.'
Cisse is now banned for FOUR games. A second straight red always results in that. Happened to Lee Cattermole, which is why he was banned for today. It is getting beyond a joke now. 6 reds in 30 games. Lack of disciplne is costing us so bad - but we cannot solely blame the season on that. We have been poor for the large part and havent been helped by quite frankly ludicrous refereeing decisions. Bad season all round, and call me a pessimist (my dad says I am!), but I wrote this season off long ago. The Liverpool game gave us a glimmer of hope, but with today results, and having lost Cisse for four games (two being Swansea and WBA - ones that look more winable) I really do think that is it now. The players failed to capitalise on the euphoria of the liverpool win, now we are back to sitting on a loss for a week.
I think Cisse's red was harsh, so did my mate, a qualified referee (haha!)! He took the ball FFS though with 2 feet, yellow was enough. Still a stupid tackle though. Its hard to be optimistic after that performance, the other results, and Arsenal and Man U next, Nuts! We needed 3 points today, but in reality we never looked like getting them.
Would love to be feeling postive, but its too hard. Being let down week after week. At least this way I dont get as disapointed when we lose as I have resigned myself to it! Still, I will turn up and support the team as you never know. I will give my all to help the players get wins. Im off to the Man U game in a couple of weeks, just hope we can pull off a result to pay back a small amount of what the players should!
NUTS you've got to be having a laugh mate. I mean you've just GOT to be. You can't honestly think this side can stay up after watching that? After that post I wonder if you are a serious football man a'tall
I really do get annoyed at people saying doom and gloom merchants. Has anyone thought that it might just be being realistic? Could quite easily say others are being delusional.
On this display next seasons going to be anything but a cakewalk. I only hope the season ticket prices reflect our change of status. I for one will defo not be paying £759.00 again.
with you on this one Judo..sometimes you have to put your hands up and say you are just not man / good enough ....like us this eason.. we've been beaten by the bottom sides....WHY? should we think we are good enough ? It was fun but the funs over..its now damage limitation IMHO
Glad someone agrees! At least this way it doesnt hurt so much. Would say this year has been fun, its been awful. Even from the very first game we have struggled. The players have noone to blame but themselves, several need to look in the mirror and who can honestly say they have given their all and repaid the fans efforts? For me only Helguson, Hill, Derry, Mackie Cerny can say that. And look, all of them are from our side last season.
Although I was at the game and not too far from Cisse Campbell tackle I have not seen a replay (I am recording FF) was the tackle a red card, I did not think the ref knew what was going on at times. However you played ok once Cisse went off, but generally we deserved the win. I think it was great you beat Liverpool and wish you well for the rest of your games.
Swords, all i'm trying to say is that after every game there is the usual over-reaction on this site. After Wed we were world beaters and now we are rubbish again. I like to hold the middle ground mate. Yes we are ****ed, i can see that, it does not look good at all. My eyes are wide open. But what's the point in throwing in the towel. We still have 8 matches left. Thats 24 Pts. We only need about 9. Today we were pure sh**e. One of our worst performances this season. We created nothing. More indiscipline. But our season is not over yet. I did not wait 15 years to get back in the Prem to throw the towel in at our weakest moment. The club, management and players need us to believe.
Fair enough NUTS. I agree that some got carried away after beating a useless Liverpool side. I admire the never say die attitude. If you're applying that in your life away from this forum you must be doing grand. Maximum respect there. I can't understand the desire of Hughes to completely change the defense when he came in when clearly that's not where the weak link was. His signings have been about as poor as they could be given the amount of dosh he was given to spend. Poor Tony and Bhatia!
Ive no comment about Cisse. Just hope he forfeits and donates some of the £100,000 hes probably going to earn for putting his feet up in the next month to some worth worth cause. Many people dont earn that money in 4 or 5 years.
I guess us fans may never understand decisions made by our managers. Thats part of the mystery that is football. We all know Cisse is Prem class. The sad thing about him is that he prob would have scored the goals to keep us up if he was not constantly suspended. He has let MH down badly. Come to think of it he has let everybody down badly. Diakite looks like he COULD become a good player but he is way way off the pace of the Prem at the moment. He is an accident waiting to happen. A DM who can't time his tackles is a time bomb. My biggest concern is that today we should have been overflowing with confidence. I expected us to start the match like a steam train and build on that. We looked really flat today. Unexplainable. The team did not look and play like a team fighting for its life. That's what disappoints me most as a fan. I really expected them to show fire and brimstone today. A lot of our players are just going through the motions. Now thats sad.
Frankly the first thing Cisse (and some of his colleagues) should be doing is refunding the cost of my match ticket I'm fed up of certain players through their own stupidity giving us a mountain to climb I work bloody hard for what I earn, and I'm by no means poorly paid, but I, like many others on here, have spent not inconsiderable amounts of both time and money following the Rs again this year I accept that ultimately 3 clubs have to face relegation, but I expect real commitment from the players - not crass stupidity
