    The trainer has said in today's RP that she doubts it was an inside job as the stable benefit from the horse winning as they get a share of the prize money. France-Galop do have a rule which states that they can ban a horse from running while an investigation is carried out, though they have no intention of invoking it yet. If no answer can be found then the trainer will have to carry the can as, under French rules, the buck stops there.

    Really convincing. So is she assuming that an application of bute (or whatever it was) would have intentionally decreased the horse's chances?

    That statement just makes me more suspicious that it was an inside job. Nice to know the buck stops at the trainer.

    A colleague of mine often relays the story about her father's horses being doped in the 60s, as mentioned in this article.
