Becchio has two and a half years left on his contract. Still rusty and out of form after his operation and certainly hasn't made the splash this season that he has for us in the last three. Don't see why we'd want to shift him though. He'll come good eventually. We've got Paynter coming back as well as Forssell and McCormack, so I'd say Somma is a more realistic target for you if he really wants first team football. He's just getting back into the swing of full training, so might be fit by January. Grayson and Bates have both said they wouldn't sell Becchio, and certainly not to a Div 2 promotion rival. But we all know their track record with telling the truth isn't brilliant.
I wouldn't be that surprised to see him move to a better Championship team. He's had a very good run but before that he couldn't cut it at Sheff. Utd. and was only impressive enough to go to Donny. I'm not saying I don't rate him, but that he'd be a big gamble for a prem team. Someone from Leeds or Leicester? If it was Becchio I wouldn't know what to think. Out of principle he's a player I can't stand, he's one of my biggest Championship pet hates, and certainly wouldn't fit in with the honest ethos our current squad has. But on the flipside he has been a very effective player at times, and just what we have missed.
