I have no doubt that we will retake our position as a team that is kind of hard to play against, gives you a good game and finishes in the top ten. Which is pretty much the boards goal at this point.

Your all so fickle a few **** signings and you'll all suck Ashleys c**k already.

The fact is if any of them are any good they will be gone no sooner you've fallen in love with them.

    Bullseye.

Charnley took a back seat until the final leg of negotiations and JFK was left to broker the deals. Result.... no permanent signings.

It's no coincidence that with JFK gone we are moving with greater purpose.

We'll never splash the cash like the days of old... never have a management structure who give a real crap about us fans..... and we'll never have what we feel is a 'full strength' squad... but compared to my expectation (as documented all over the Forum over recent months) We've surpassed them and for that I take positives.

I also have a genuine dislike for Pardew on lots of levels but he's run out of excuses now. He has a stronger squad and with a striker thrown in there's no hiding places. I'll be backing the team from the off as usual and will give it until around Nov/Dec until the rivers of beel flow heavily down from the hills of Consett... or not... as I hope.

I don't really understand the fascination with long-term servants of this club. The one and only exception to almost any football rule is Alan Shearer. We have never had that kind of service, and most clubs very rarely get it, particularly away from the top table. Even Man U can't retain C Ronaldo. Where does this rule come from that players have to be here for years and years to get respect? I mean, let's take two players here - Shola Ameobi and David Ginola. One of them played 311 times for the club over 14 years. The other took in 58 games over a couple of seasons. One of the two gets unlimited respect and love from the fans, the other often derided for being at best a poor player. How many of us would count Andy Cole, Les Ferdinand, Laurent Robert, Peter Beardsley and Paul Gascoigne as our best, our most loved?

It's what is done with the time at the club that matters - that snapshot of time that says "yep, I was there". What's an FA Cup win? Something to revel in year on year on year, or a delicious snapshot in time that you were proud to be part of. Football is not family, it's not the wife you marry or the kids you have. Football is entertainment, nearer to the great film you saw for the first time or that amazing night in Vegas with friends. If Remy Cabella has the season of his life, who are we to stop him moving to Barca? We can't so enjoy what you see. The wheel always turns.

I just think we are still 5 signings short of improvement if Krul gets injured we're stuffed because elliot has no place at this level, if Colo, Janmaat get injured we have less than adequate back up. If cabella gets injured we have nothing to replace him with and if De Jong gets injured we have nowt to replicate him as for our striker situation well it's woeful.

In my opinion we've taken two steps forward and two back over 12 months so let's see where we are at the end of the window but I expect more sales if we do sign anyone else.

it's hardly Paul ****ing Daniels stuff

What if we sign 5 more players, what if no one gets injured, what if we win some games, what if we finish 6th, what if we get to the finals of the league cup, what if a UFO lands on Manchester wiping out the whole lot, cheer up it may never happen Mrdoom.

I'm happy mate I just don't **** about and I'm currently right about what I'm saying. Injuries will happen as will suspensions there is more likely an alien invasion than otherwise I assure you.

If we keep what we have and sign 5 quality players in the correct areas I'll cut off my balls and ram them up my arsehole until I can see them drop out my mouth.
