Yes, this is the chance you have all been waiting for. To prove that you know more about football than the next person. And you all do, yes? To compete for the title of Mystic Nutmeg, all you have to do is predict how many points you think Saints will have on Christmas Day. Post your answers on this thread, but to make it interesting you cannot choose a points total already predicted by another poster, so get in early! The person with the closest figure wins and may rename themselves Mystic Nutmeg for the festive period....if they wish! Should there be a tie, then there will be a tie-breaker using the Boxing Day fixture against Fulham. Happy Guestimating!
34 seems reasonable Hull (A) - Win - 22 Leceister (H) - Win - 25 Villa (A) - Draw - 26 Man C (H) - Loss - 26 Arsenal (A) - Draw - 27 Man U (H) - Win - 30 Burnley (A) - Win 33 Everton (H) - Draw 34 Edited to add (hopeful) progression
I think we will do well to get much more than another dozen points. We have some very tough games in Nov/Dec. I'll go 32.
I'm going with 42 points.... Still a lot of winnable games before Christmas and we shouldn't fear anyone except injuries to key players. COYR's *edit I can't count! I'll change it to 43 points...
I'll go with a conservative 40 points. We can win all those games but I think we'll lose at Arsenal. We will, of course, beat Chelsea to go top on 28th December but that isn't part of the game.
41 points! Don't actually think that but as others were taken, may as well choose the house number I lived at when I first truly followed the Saints.
Glad nobody has spotted that due to my lazy cut and paste from 2012, the boxing day fixture is definitely not at Fulham.....
My first thought was 4 wins, 3 draws, and 1 loss from those fixtures as you've got there Tommomo (but not specific to which result in which fixture, little bits of luck for and against may throw that kind of stuff awry). IF we can do it, that's a pretty reasonable statement to be 2ppg with 34 on the board after our opening 17 fixtures.
Yeah i would be chuffed with that especially is it would mean we got a few points off the big teams and people can finally shut their mouths about how we got easy fixtures or cant perform against the best.
May be cloud cuckoo land, but perhaps we are meeting City, United and Arsenal at the right time. We are high in confidence and have settled in well and these teams show some vulnerability. We have to play them sometime...get some points and/or good performances and not too much damage done. It will be after Xmas when injuries may start to appear that will be the real challenge.
