I think he saw leicester have more cash and therefore at the time possibly more chance of promo (and money for him). But, as I have mentioned earlier maybe he did not want to sign for Pearson. Only Danns has the answer. Either way, it appears Pearson + Danns dont get on.
I seriously don't think he didn't go to Hull because of Pearson. Where would he have worked with him previously? As you said, he likely wanted to engineer a move to Leicester for the money. Pearson certainly had no problems with him last season either as he had the best spell of his time at the Foxes under Nige. His performance against Burton was piss poor though and he fell out of favour. I think it was his attitude after that, putting things on Twitter about not understanding why he wasn't being picked that pissed Nige off. We all know Nige is very careful about what goes out to the press. So publishing something like that directly to the fans would have gone down about as well as a guest appearance by Gary Glitter on Grange Hill. Under-performing, publicly criticising the manager and high wages were only going to lead to one outcome. Beckford's story is very similar.
