but this is the difference this isn't someone doing it to their partner or family. Using your same example, are you saying if someone did that randomly to your bird, you would stand there and do and say nothing? I'd expect your bird would kick them in the nuts, even if you didn't do anything.

Honestly, that literally is what assault is. If they cause him to apprehend violence then it's assault. Anyhoo, more to the point, people seem to ignore the fact that Whitty is and always has been a working doctor behind all of his public appearances. He was in work in the hospitals, on the front line, pitching in during the height of the pandemic not for cameras or as a publicity stunt but because it's what he is trained to do and he wanted to help out his over-burdened colleagues. He's not a politician and if anyone thinks this is ok behaviour they need to have a look at themselves and question their own morality.
The bloke's had a mob outside his gaff shouting traitor and all sorts. The only reason we don't know about it is because he's not spoken out about it. There's footage out there. It's like a mob of pitchfork wielding loons shouting "burn him".
