What about Jason Euell ? Powell's quote "best friend in football' who then acted as his unofficial spokesman revealing details of the spat between CP and RD before the Sheff United cup tie. Or was that Andy Ansah ?

Lets see if Euell joins Powell and Dyer at Udders.

    Jacko on Powell:

    By Richard Cawley

CHARLTON skipper Johnnie Jackson is delighted to see Addicks legend Chris Powell back in management at Huddersfield.

The Terriers appointed the England international on a rolling 12-month deal.

And Powell, who left Charlton in March, has brought in Alex Dyer as his assistant manager.

And Jackson said: "I'm delighted for him. He has bided his time waiting to get back into football and he deserves another chance at Championship management.

"It is a good opportunity at a good club. I have the utmost respect for Chris. I loved my time working with him. I've gone on record that he was great for me and my career.

"I'm really pleased to see him back in the game. I'll be giving him a call to congratulate him myself. I'm looking forward to playing his side in the future."

It has just been announced that Johnny Jackson will shortly be leaving CAFC to join Chris Powell at Huddersfield alongside Jason Euell, Alex Dyer, Fanny Fannockburn, and another 300 or so middleclass, sweaty palmed, Powell Witnesses, who have began the long march north to join their beloved messiah at the John Smith Stadium.

The Powell love in/ hating needs a line drawn under it. He's moved on, as have we. Whatever you thought on his managerial reign, he's been a brilliant servant to the club and has great affection for us too.

Hopefully he does well, but it's an interesting opportunity. It appears their chairman isn't as happy as he once was putting his hands in his pockets, and sold some big players in the summer. Sadly I think CP has been appointed because he did a job with a small budget and the 'udders chairman has that in mind.

Breaking news on SSN is Jose Riga looks like he's heading out of blackpool.

He's back in Belgium now and they're not sure if he's returning.

There is an hilarious post from a fuming mad Huddersfield fan on CL, slaughtering Powell for the style of football Udders served up yesterday. Needless to say the said Udders poster has attempted the football forum equivalent of opening a fish and chip shop in Brick Lane, but it is a cracking read while it remains on there.

You will be *surprised* to read comments about Udders performance yesterday including "long ball" and "defensive shambles" and "League One football"

    <sorry>

Based on the shambles I witnessed yesterday, my version is 'the future of Chris Powell is managing a Team in the bottom leagues of English League Football', with Huddersfield Town unfortunately.

After making much needed progress under our Caretaker Manager Lillis, yesterday was a step-change back to Robins days. Disjointed, outclassed, outplayed, we looked league 1 not Championship. Way off the performance level required to cut it in this division.

Yes of course it is only his first match but c'mon, you expect (and it happens a lot) that the new Manager effect is positive and the Team Plays a great first game (then it can go downhill!!).

He has been banging on in the local Media about how his Players will play for him, keeping clean sheets, winning, entertaining the fans etc etc. Well Chris, you managed not one of them commitments to the fans yesterday, not one. As one of Mates summed it up on arriving at the Pub after the match (I had long gone); "that was boring".

Time will tell, the jury though (as were many of the fans early yesterday) are well and truly out.

Results have certainly picked up now for the Udders. I hope that if they continue to climb the table Vol stays with us unlike Houndal, who spontaneously combusted when Bradford reached the League Cup final and got promoted under Parky.

They aren't just picking up the points - they are looking very good in the process. It would be interesting to see what the 'udders fans are thinking now, especially after they wrote him off after 2 games.

To be fair, Huddersfield have got much better forward players than we have. Nakki Wells or Tucudean. Grant Holt or Simon Church? Sean Scannell or Callum Harriott? Well done to Powell and Dyer, for what they are doing there. I have got nothing against the pair of them.

Never far away, Lord Lucan Willy <doh>

I seem to recall that Powell had a similar false dawn with us ...it was called "101 points in the worst league in Europe"

He went down like one of my old Mum's Yorkshire puddings soon after. The same will happen at Udders.

Nick - I assume as you promote it so heavily you are involved. It's either you or a friend of Stuart Broads.

It's still to early to tell how Powell will do at Huddersfield.

He started awfully, but has since picked up, and the comments I read after their win over Forest were along the lines of 'one of the most complete Town performances I've seen for some time'. Any team can go on a good run in this league, and equally any team can go on a bad run. But currently the signs are good.

A lot seems to depend on whether Huddersfield can hang on to Grant Holt.
