I gave up when the tennis player Laura Robson emerged and my dad said 'she's earning £40k a year, what are you doing?'

I'm kind of glad Scholes and Giggs are still going to make me feel young.

There still seems some hope that Culverhouse will stay, Lambo was very uncomfortable when asked directly at his unveiling today if he was to join him, I thought it looked like he isn't following him on this journey?

I note he was wearing a shirt and tie. This probably didn't help either as he is more comfortable in a tracky.

I thought the very same, didn't crack a smile or a joke once ! I have a feeling this Villa approach was possibly not seen as a good move by all of thr trio ? Maybe this is the source of he "disagreement" & it was with Culverhouse & not with Mcnasty ?

It's probably just that negotiations are still ongoing between the clubs. He wouldn't want to say anything in those circumstances.

Villa fans are going to have to get used to such phrases as "The lads have been brilliant for me", "The fans have been brilliant", "My job is to win football matches", "The fans deserve something to cheer about", etc.; interviews are one area where PL is way behind his old "gaffer".

His saying he had his reasons for leaving but they should remain private is precisely the wrong thing to say. Nothing could be more guaranteed to set people speculating and wanting to know. He should just have said something banal and cliche-ed such as "I felt it was the right time to move on" -- unless of course he WANTS it all to come out.

just had it confirmed to me that ewan chester, chief scout will indeed be returning to norwich as part of the deal. so we are getting five members of staff in return for £2.5m! i'm almost beginning to wonder if we might end up being stronger after all this. of course much will depend on the holt situation and if/who we replace him with if needed but things are looking good <ok>

Doesn't matter about Holt, we are not a one man team. But of course it will be great if he stays!

  11. I'm glad you guys are getting Hughton.

After the way he was treated by Mike Ashley, being sacked after getting the Toon back into the EPL, I think he will be out to prove something to a lot of people, including himself.

He's a sound man, and a bloody good coach.

Sell him ! Use the over inflated price to lure in a striker younger with a prospect of making money on him down the line, make Howson skipper job done! There's not much to this football lark it's quite simple really !<ok>

exactly. its not the end of the world if he goes but it would be nice to see him stay. either way we'll either get a large chunk extra to spend or have a 15-goal striker <ok>

Heard a rumour he's being unveiled along side his first signing Shola Ameobei who as we all know has been so interested in joining city that he live in ASDA car park and commutes back to Newcastle.

Yes, I would have preferred him to have stayed, but that was before his tweet of last week. He'll be missed, not only for his goals, but also for some of his assists (his pass for Morison's winner against the Baggies comes to mind, as I was just behind that goal) and what he brings to the team. I feel that if Morison can recapture his form of the early part of last season and we can get Vaughan fit we could have an exciting season ahead!!

Look out for the fixture list on 16th June!!! <cheers>

I'm actually now thinking that PL moving on and us getting in a new man (especially if it's CH), might be more than beneficial to our great football club. All of the players will have to prove themselves again and the so called 'SSS' will not rear it's ugly head <ok>

I think Lambert is irreplacable BUT if we get Houghton I will be much much more confident ahead of this season than was ahead of last season. Lambert has left us in a great position and Houghton seems a very capable manager with a lot to prove.

I also think with a new manager in charge Holt leaving will be a good thing. It will give some extra funds AND permission to shape a new look team despite being successful last year.
