I hope all wales fans will give CC a fair crack of the whip, but i agree he should have kept his own counsel about Verheijen, although he (Verheijen) obviously did a decent job working under Speedo he should not have spat his dummy out when he did! Would have been much better to air his grievences behind closed doors, and for that reason perhaps its best he has moved on.

I hate to brake up this happy love in with Coleman, but he'll not take us forward, Verheijen would have though. I was very relieved when Coleman didn't get the Swansea job some time back, and Chris Coleman will not last long hopefully, I agree normally with most of what Mabon states, but sorry lads Coleman is out of his depth! besides I don't rate the guy one bit, we'll be back to the Toshack days before too long........ <ok>

who would you have gone for phil? there was hardly a glut of candidates to pick from.... dean saunders and hartson are the only realistic alternatives i could think of.... unless you go foreign, which i'd rather we didnt...

i admit he isnt a big name who will show the FWA mean business but he is probably the best of a bad bunch..... he held his own in the PL and has managed in spain and greece.... he seems a bit arrogant for the CV he has but i believe he can continue the upward trajectory <ok>

I would have gone for Verheijen, he was clearly the brains behind Speed, but Coleman is as thick as two short planks, and his brand of football, well say no more, he did say all the right things immediately after his appointment, and even stated he would not mess around with the coaching staff, but that didn't last long did it! I don't think we have much too choose from as welsh candidates, but I've always been of the opinion we should have gone foreign, when you consider the statement from Verheijen "political and destructive games." that just about sums up the welsh political back stabbing that goes on, and the FAW don't have a great track record of getting it right, and none of this is of any surprise to me, but we have definitely taken a backward step with Coleman!....................

Raymond Verheijen probable thought, why do I want to work under this numpty! and let's be honest he new that Coleman would bring in his own team, and although Coleman was ambiguous over the decision, we all new Coleman would kick out Verheijen, and the guy just new this too, hence why he departed 5 days before the game, and who can blame him, what was it that Coleman said now, "I don't want a number two that's standing beside me or inching in front of me. If they want that, go and become a number one somewhere." Ha ha what a plonker, no class whatsoever. Verheijen had warned the Football Association of Wales against "turning their back on Gary Speed's legacy" when appointing the next Wales manager, but in appointing Coleman they clearly have, the problem we now face with this numpty in charge, will be the same as Toshack, the players will walk again, the dream didn't last 5 minutes, such is the nature of the political beast here in Wales with the inept FAW!..................<ok>

"Very proud to be part of Fifa's most improved team in 2011. Would like to thank the players and fans for an amazing journey." - Raymond Verheijen That won't happen in 2012, I'll put money on it...........<ok>

Although Colemans managerial exploits so far don't fill me with hope or excitment, their not excactly knocking the doors down to get the Wales job.So i think we might as well see what he can do not that we have much option, the Welsh job seems about as popular as the Wolves job at the moment. As far as Ray Verheijen goes, although he seems to have a good footballing brain and a lot of the set up we have now is probably down to what he implimented,he really pissed on his chips by asking about the managers job before Gary Speed was aloud to be laid to rest.In fact he was running his mouth off before the coroners report came out, showing a complete lack of respect and disregard for Gary his family and the feelings of the squad at a difficult time, which suggests he is "All about me" rather than anyone else

    Exactly Bongo and Sussex.

Correct me if I'm wrong Phil (I can't be bothered to trawl back through historic threads) but didn't you say similar things when Speed was appointed.

Quite frankly I think it was Verheijen who was playing the mind games and got the hump when he lost out. I won't criticise his skills but personally he comes across as an arrogant, conceited sod who is so chock full of his own self importance that he can't/won't see the views of others. He certainly didn't consider the Speed family or Welsh fans in the timing of his announcement.

In the long run you may be right about Coleman who hasn't done that well in the interviews shown so far but like all new managers he must be given time and, as I said last week, it is a pity he has to wait until May for his next game with only one more after that before the WC qualifiers.

I didn't rate Speed, and your quite right on that Bridgend, but it was Verheijen that got Wales playing the way we did, not Speed, and if Verheijen is this all self serving individual that some of you are trying to portray him as, then how come so many of the players wanted him to stay? Like I said the guy sniffed out the usual welsh political back stabbing that goes on, and we will again fall down the rankings, sorry day for Wales when Coleman was picked, hell even Huw Jenkins didn't select this numpty!..............

To be fair though, the FAW would have interviewed people and they'll know a lot more than we do about what goes on amongst the coaching staff. I'm sure if Ray V really was the brains behind it they'd know and appoint him. But they didn't. You just have to accept for the moment that CC is in charge and give him a chance to prove himself.
