Mind, I think he's doing it partly out of terror that people in Russia are now, at least have been, increasingly aware of the huge increase in living standards in those former old Soviet states which have looked and linked to the West in recent years. Their progress stands as a public rebuke to the sclerotic and state encumbered economy he presides over. There is also the matter of time in charge. They all go mad after about ten years being top dog, never mind twenty!
F#&k them. Best part of 19 years of bought success. They have nothing to complain about. Just odd how the government have clearly turned a blind eye to dirty money in this country all this time. Plenty people in high offices arses twitching I'll bet.
Jason Cundy, the Chelsea fan on talkSPORT always starts with a "Has anyone seen - insertpopular topic to take the piss", (ripped off from a world cup advert a few years ago) at the start of every show, I'm sure he has a list for his own dear club. I always remember when the were taken over, and all the London Man U fans switched to Chelsea, oh well.
Some clubs do them as yearly franchises so they might have already payed for the season if so can’t see why they shouldn’t operate as normal
Chelsea are the epitome of a club who, in my opinion, have bought success and driven modern day football in the wrong direction. They have no real history other than the last ownership era. Despite the success, I have never seen a team that makes me smile. Unlike all of the others in recent times. They have seemed to me to be a club that wants to scrap and ugly their way to success. Their model of having 20+ players out on loan to me is anti-footballers. I hate what they have done to footballers who could have been entertaining supporters of home town clubs. If there was one 'elite' club who I would hope goes pop, to bring english football back to reality, Chelsea would be it. The fact the govt are treating it is a special case suggests it wont happen though. I doubt it would be the same kid gloves if it were a lesser club.
I hate that they bought success, as you say they have never done it with real flair or panache. I mean when they first got the money their tactic seem to be to buy anyone who was doing half decent at any premier league club, chucked money around like confetti and they are the main reason fees skyrocketed! But by far the biggest crime against the game they commit is signing as much talent they can and sticking them out in loan at 30 or more a season. It actually makes them a decent income and they tend to make a profit off stupid clubs that sign players cause they were at Chelsea so must be worth 8 million despite only playing about 13 minute of 1st team football! cough cough not needing to be looking very far for an example of that!
