If there are no contract renewals and this runs past the next transfer window how many players will they lose?
Before I rejoice I will wait and see how it pans out, this should have been done as soon as one Russian soldier entered Ukranian territory, the actions of this Government to clamp down on dirty money has been so slow as to be almost ineffective so far.
Absolutely. Only hastens me to think that the government have been in receipt of amounts of said dirty money in the past! Just an opinion (and a slight conspiracy theory) obviously
Roman Abramovich can go **** himself but Chelsea Football Club was there long before he turned up. I hope these sanctions involve him being stripped of the club and it sold on quickly to someone who can run it properly, rather than these measures causing it to be run into the ground. It would be sad if we lost part of the country's sporting heritage due to Russian corruption.
Well he's been sanctioned, so his huge estates might not be his much longer, I doubt if he's anywhere near the UK or USA at the moment.
It's possible there's Russian money behind other clubs including our own. If that's the case I'd rather it vanished and we just trundle around forever in the lower leagues. Putin, I'm sad to say, is doing all this out of boredom.
Actually, they have frozen more cash and assets than any other single country. More than the rest of Europe combined. As for individuals, the matter is complicated by, you won't be surprised to hear, the Human Rights Act. This has not yet been invoked by a Russian oligarch but it has been threatened, and will no doubt be used. The delay is in trying to frame matters which are able to resist this pernicious and routinely abused piece of legislation.
