Just don't drown your chips in that ****e though, just turns them into an acidic soggy mess. On that note though, I've got a jar of Carolina Reaper pickled onions in the fridge, the vinegar in that bitch does some serious damage.
Curry or Gravy for me, either or as long as there's a **** tonne of batter and salt and vinegar splattered over it all before the curry/gravy is poured over !
Batter... I've been Yorkshire'd for >30 years now (since I was 11) and i can't call 'em anything other than "scraps".
but it is 'scraps' of 'Batter' you could get scrap chips or scrap fish so it is better to identify what scraps you want BATTER think we need another poll
I called it batter till I was a young teen... I'm bilingual, so I'd ask for batter in the NE. Can see it both ways, but if you ask from scraps in Yorkshire, it means only one thing. No confusion.
I can confirm - went into a chip shop (not Albert's) in Sheffield and asked for batter - instant confusion. Was then told to ask for scraps and all was right again Although I do agree, they are scraps of batter lol
Chips need to be swimming in gravy/curry. Nowt worse than when they skimp on the gravy or curry. When I used to go out on the piss every Saturday afternoon I'd always finish off with fried rice and curry sauce. I'd ask them to layer the rice and the curry. Rice then curry then rice then curry. ****in genius
