Again, Houghton (sp) and RSB's expanation for selling the club at @ half price (albeit a distressed sale) was that NESV, as it was, were ready there and then to expand the ground. I have no sympathis for Hicks, especially, and Gillete, but if the argument for a quick, underpriced sale was that a new ground would 'imminently' be started on and it then took five years.... well, shades indeed of an epic swindle. As said, no sympathy for Hicks as he turned down a second offer of £450m from DIC only a year before that would have seen him cover all his debts and then some. He, over Gillete, so we're told, wanted to hold out for @ £660m ($1bn) that Forbes said the club were worth. Well in 2008 before the crash they did, anyway. And H&G had told Moores the same bullshit in 2007 when they gazumped DIC in the first place, trousering Moores et al several millions more in the process (and he's the **** at the source of our wasted ten years since Istanbul if you ask me), but whilst grateful to FSG for saving the club from administration and recapitalising it, let's not fool ourselves that FSG's slow process was anything other than financially motivated. And we've still fallen further behind City, Uniturd and Chelsea in the process, and I don't just mean the sugar-daddy element of the oil clubs, I mean commercially and world profile too.[/QUOTE] Fair enough but what if the g&h plans were just conplete pie in the sky and ruinously expensive and never intened to actually be built. What if writing off 50mil of bad debt was necessary under ffp and maybe fsg gave lfc that money to just survive... No? Maybe They've pumped cash in left and right and the mistakes theyve made that have put us behind those other clubs is a complete lack of knowledge about football and how it works so they had to learn it... perhaps the money they put in was wasted by stupid committees and managers they put faith in. Off the pitch my opinion is theyve built us back from the brink to a sustainable club thats invested in its facilities and hopefull will continue to do so. Weve grown by what % in non tv revenues over the 6 years. We are running to break even. The reality of spurs say is theyve fought and scrapped over multiple managers with smart buying and a lot of luck too. Where would they be without kane?? Lfc may just need a period of onfield stabilty and on pitch growth now to align with the off field work. I hope klopp is the one and hes given time cos i cant see him bettering 6th this year with the team hes got.
