Bottas has that "it's happening again" look in the cool down room. Can't imagine either Ferrari driver is happy at the moment either.
We all know why he really quit, stress! Which made him evaluate his priorities in life, Now it is travel without stress.
On the plus side, there has to be one, Binotti saying Le Clerc has a right to be angry and we will see in the future (words to that effect). So Vettel calling, 'I am faster' then wasn't and Le Clerc saying 'we are preserving tyres' could the next shout from Vettel 'I am faster' be responded to with 'then prove it then by overtaking on your own'. Binotti didn't seem happy, I suspect he thinks LeClerc could have got 2nd if they had not swapped. 2nd and third as opposed to 3rd and 5th, big difference 8 pts.
Love him though I do, I think 2nd would have been beyond him today. But they gave up 3rd and 4th today, and anyone with half a brain could see that Vettel wasn’t actually any faster when he was behind, it was just the ebb and flow of the DRS.
Bottas looked really dejected, i guess because he know that once Lewis gets ahead of him in the points table it will be difficult to catch him. And especially when Bottas had the whole weekend under control, way more consistent and faster than anybody else while hamilton couldnt stting together a lap until qualifying. I am sure Bottas thought he had it all sorted out, at least Rosberg did...he said Lewis will be no where in qualifying and the race. I believe that gave Lewis the boost he needed to step it up, as he still wants to prove Rosberg wrong. What on earth is Ferrari doing between races though? The car lost all its pace between last race and this?...then the stupid team orders....ahhhhh! Anyway i want to see both Ferraris on thr front row, just to see what is their true pace and what can Mercedes do to catch them...that to me will be very interesting. I still cant believe that someone with the quality of Ocon is out of F1 and Stroll and others are there... i guess he has the wrong daddy????
I cant see kubica lasting much longer to be honest. I did wonder if Mercedes would offer anything if William's were to become a PU test team for the year, given Mercedes constant moans of lacking Ferrari power. That and their PU architecture is new this year, a new PU each race ain't exactly going to hurt their grid position.
Leclerc didn't really show he was faster than Vettel either, he was told to go faster, yet when he did Vettel was still only a second behind, so Vettel could go faster. The gap between 2nd & 3rd was the same after the swap around as it was before, it made sense from a team perspective at the time. Ferrari may have got a 3rd & 4th, but Verstappen would've been ahead of whoever had to stop 2nd. He really lost his chance because they kept him out too long on the worn mediums, but maybe they decided that a 5th was better than trying to overtake Max for a DNF.
Russell appears to be performing as well as you can in a 2019 Williams, but it sounds like it isn't really a level playing field at Williams at the moment: https://www.motorsportmagazine.com/opinion/f1/mph-dont-write-kubica-just-yet Apparently he's still waiting for the redesigned steering wheel to allow him to upshift and downshift with the same hand more easily as well: https://www.reddit.com/r/formula1/c...and_for_both_upshift/?st=juh7w4k1&sh=0d1377fd
If you decide fifth is better than trying to overtake someone, in the third race of the season, you really do want to be giving your head a wobble.
Ocon is out of F1 Currently because that was the only way other teams could stick 2 fingers up to Toto ( IMHO ) . Bottas will be out of that drive next season 100% guaranteed . I just hope he can get a good drive .
