Well that's my earworm for the morning sorted.

All together everyone "It was a theme she had on a scheme he had, told in a foreign land..."

Seems like none can claim The Mandate of Heaven forever.

China has been continually developing its dynastic system for more than 2000 years with the last big cautionary lesson being the Mao's era.

The current iteration is the most meritocratic selection of leaders this world has to offer, however, the system fails at the lower levels of government, where the lack of democratic checks and balances keeps the same corrupt officials in place for too long. The good ones are steadily promoted in the party hierarchy so only the bad ones stay in place.

Probably a little early for dynastic cycle parallels, but still.

I'm sure that we'll be sending foreign aid before long that will never be paid back & mean we have to cut more money from budgets....

Not like there isn't a precedent for that kinda thing..... <whistles>

You can't do this to me Rick. I'm in a good mood today.

As much as I'd like to discuss the intricacies of UK foreign aid with you, not today :emoticon-0125-mmm:

Oh I wasn't having a dig at foreign aid I vehemently support it & especially despise Ukip for wanting to slash/stop it, I was more drawing a parallel between bailing banks out to the tune of £1.2tn that they're not paying back with possibly ending up in a similar situation helping to prop up China.

Was a bit tongue in cheek too.
