I'm being cautious as well, as I think most people are. A lot are just having a laugh. We still do not know KL intentions, what if she wants to sell? If she does I wouldn't say no to Cortese coming back with new backers.

Hey, let's not forget. Saints are in an enviable position as it is. If nothing else happens I won't feel short changed. But it's great to dream. So many people forget that part of life's great bits of fun is dreaming what if..?

MOTD showed the papers and i think the telegraph back page has Saints braced for takeover. So not just the mirror or that could be another takeover. Heard Peter Allen has made a bid.

After the week this club has had and the stories of turmoil & meltdown, it's nice to have a positive rumour and I do think this is positive. Investments in Sunseeker and companies like that show this guy is not a nutcase. Obviously with the club being sponsored by Sunseeker it's highly likely that Cortese will have links with higher management there. Cortese seems like a man who likes to network so you never know :)

Not really getting my hopes up, but what intrigues me about Dalian Wanda is that it's a company with a lot of money that probably wouldn't try to do too much; they wouldn't want to upset the fans, or micromanage, or even plow City-esque piles of money into the club, because Wang Jianlin is a close ally of the Chinese government, and the image they've been trying to project is one of quiet, non-threatening competence and business acumen. They've been buying up properties with a high profile, but at least in terms of the ones with which I'm familiar, have operated them with a fairly soft touch...there's a lot riding on their being an accepted part of the business landscape in Europe and North America.

Yes, and I dare say that Paul Allen's yacht has been spotted in the car park.

Anyway, I'll get my coat now, because I am off T'Pau-der my nose.....

Did you see what I did there?

Hmm, not too late. I shall have a look via the iPlayer and take the time bar to the end of the programme. Then I might watch Reading win 7-1.

EDIT: Straight off the MOTD screen. The Sunday Express:

You mean Paul Allen? I was just saying the other day how I'd like him to make a bid.

Well if the statement is to be believed they wanted him to stay, just have to hope they don't blame him too much for the negative press, but there is 175 millions reasons to let bygones be bygones if the papers are right

Well absolutely (although I think that 175 figure is a stab in the dark).

I rather imagine all this will calm down until the summer when we'll have forgotten it, and this thread will have to be dug up from the bowels of Not606.....

I made the same point a couple of days ago. Cortese has been incredibly focussed and determined about Southampton for years and to me it would be quite out of character for him just to walk away. I'd probably even say I expect he will try and put something together to return. Whether or not he'd ultimately be able to pull off that return is another matter.

I know I'm pretty much just joking at this point. Although (at the risk of typical tabloid journalist speculation) when Cortese left there was a lot of speculation about whether the club would be sold and whether players would be sold. Katharina moved quickly to address the player rumours by releasing a statement saying no players will be sold this month. There's been no comment on whether the club is for sale. It doesn't necessarily mean anything but it's something that suddenly struck me earlier today.

I can remember Marc photocopier Jackson just fine. Can't for the life of me remember the name of the guy with the private jets.

True, but you look how much your neighbours sold their house for and if Fulham went for 150m it's not a bad stab
