No surprise this storey, now watch out for the storey of this company buying up the old Ford Works to develop a new stadium with hotels, cinemas etc. I'm just praying if it goes through it does so quickly and smoothly There's more to NCs exit than we originally thought but I think this storey starts to shine light on the situation Fingers crossed
Little bit of context......I'm pretty keen on the last line of this article - http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/china-business/10130188/Wang-Jianlin-from-soldier-to-property-tycoon.html
I'm really not sure I can take that seriously as there is a link on the right saying: "Haribo stops selling racist sweets".
My semi is getting uncomfortable. I said at the time I didn't think we had seen the last of Cortese. Why create that media frenzy in his last days, it's like he wanted the world to hear how indispensable he was to the club. It would suck if you mooched up to "billionaire x" to tell them of this great club they should buy, only to be told "cheers for the tip, but I'll buy it and bring in my own guys."
I'd be happy with it as long as Cortese was part of the package. I'd be very cautious if some tycoon wanted to be chairman himself, but for someone to buy the club and then take a back seat like Markus did would be perfect. Just let Nicola run it like he was doing before, but this time with even wealthier backing. And I would also like to echo the pants-jizzing sentiments of some of my fellow posters. This is very exciting, even if it is the Mirror.
I've taken to making song titles/songs by substituting "one" for "Wang". So far I've got... I am the one Wang and only! Wangnam style What a Wangderful world He's the Wang Wang love... Wang life... lets get together and feeeellll alright Wang love! For the mother's pride! Wang love! For the times that we cried! Yep, I'm bored.
The only thing I'd celebrate were he to buy Pompey would be in being able to use the line "A Fish Called Wanda".....
I've just seen this and read through a lot of posts. We seem a little over excited. I'm actually a little underwhelmed and not sure how I feel. I love the progress we've been making "in the right way" with some good financial backing and there is something about this that just doesn't excite me. I'm going to remain cautious for now.
Perhaps Cortese is currently at home doing some Blondie karaoke in front of a Saints calendar. Wang way or another I'm gonna find ya I'm gonna getcha getcha getcha getcha Wang way or another I'm gonna win ya I'm gonna getcha getcha getcha getcha Wang way or another I'm gonna see ya I'm gonna meetcha meetcha meetcha meetcha Wang's day, maybe next week I'm gonna meetcha, I'm gonna meetcha, I'll meetcha
Before today, the thought crossed my mind was why would Cortese leave. I explained why in an earlier post, but my explanation never covered the fact that Cortese's involvement in Saints has been intensely personal to him. The attention to detail that he had suggests to me that he was putting his heart and soul into his work. For me, one only does that if what one is doing is so special that it has a personal connection to it. In everyday terms, it's like the mechanic who fixes a car sufficiently well, but restores his antique vehicle to concours perfection - it's personal. Cortese is a perfectionist, and I think he wanted to make Saints his perfect baby. Under the terms of new arrangements with Katherina, that was not possible anymore, so he walked. But I wouldn't mind betting he spoke with a few friends, to see how the land lay, before he handed in his resignation. This might be all twaddle what I'm saying, but I just can't see Cortese coming out of this second best, or walking away and starting something else from scratch, when he has ploughed so much commitment into making Saints a model football club. We've unfinished business with the Don.
