I have always been in this camp, not without some trepidation of course. To me, a good owner is much more important than a good director. And it seems to me like KL has always been a good owner. We've never lacked for spending or investment and she keeps her nose out of the football activities. What more could you want? Even if you credit all of our success to NC, when he was here we all made a big deal about how we had a banker, and we were fiscally responsible, and we were on a self-sustaining path. Funny how now we just want a rich owner (as if richer than the potential amount the Leibherrs could spend actually makes a difference) to pour in a zillion dollars. I always liked having the Leihberrs as the owner because in my view NC is a nut. A good nut to have on your side, but one that I wouldn't want to have full power either. So I always felt good that if NC went insane, we had some owners who seemed to like things run quietly, steadily, and well to bring it back under control. And maybe that's exactly what happened. At any rate, I look at it like Cortese was the one who quit on his team in the middle of the season, at a critical time without any explanation. Even if it were all part of grand plot to take over the club again, I wouldn't want him back in charge. I don't want someone who plays games like running the club.
You do know that talk sport's researcher is none other than that man of ridiculously low intellect called the Moose.
If it's on Talksport it really is almost guaranteed to be nonsense. Moose is a desperate excuse for a presenter/pundit/human.
Wang Jianlin has actively denied suggestions he is looking to buy Southampton Football Club: http://news.sohu.com/20140120/n393774409.shtml
Well played everyone, thanks to our tenacious rumour monging we have got a real response out of a multi-billionaire
Beijing News (Reporter Li Jie) yesterday, the British "Mirror" said Wanda Group interested in buying Premier League Southampton, this news caused concern outside the industry. According to "The Mirror newspaper," said Wang Jianlin intends to £ 175 million acquisition of Premier League club Southampton, in order to fight Runanlundui commercial market. In this regard, the Beijing News reporter to verify the Wanda Group, Wanda Group Chairman Wang Jianlin said Wanda Group currently does not have any human contact with the Southampton club had also not appointed any person or any third party with whom the team acquired matters, this argument is purely imaginary, inconsistent with the facts. This is following the Serie A giants Roma before acquisition rumors were clarified, Wanda Group to acquire foreign team for the second time to make an official response. Southampton nicknamed "Saints", was founded in November 1885. Southampton outstanding performance this season, but the recent state of decline, currently ranked No. 9 standings, and the club's financial situation is not optimistic. "This team does have the intention of resale, nor rule out the agency when looking for a buyer, select Wanda." Informed analysis, said Wanda Football Club had operating experience and financial power, but also the future in the UK real estate development business, is one of the locking mechanism for the buyer, not unexpected.
It's no fun trying to look for further clues in the language used when it has gone through the Google Translate meatgrinder.
No human contact so by computer then? Least it rules them out, now all we need is KL saying she isn't selling.
Talksport no nothing about the thinking of the leaders here in China. Although there are no rumours about this here, the Dalian Wanda group is looking to expand its business empire worldwide, if doing so it included purchasing a football club it would do so. China is all about expanding its business interests to make it a major player in the world market, this is totally against what talksport is saying. Making the Chinese super league one of the best in the world, the CSL is a long way from achieving this, at the moment it is full of South American's that most people have not heard of, others come here for a large paycheck, similar to Anelka, and play in front of 10,000 fans in a stadium built for 50,000 plus. Buying into a European team would through summer tours be a good way to promote not only the European team in China but also help increase the interest in football here in China.
Didn't like the little sentence about our poor financial position...perhaps this was why KL wanted Nicola reined in...he was allowing his enthusiasm to run away with the dosh. Remember he has taken out loans against the club...probably just for cash flow issues since we had to buy initially for the PL without PL money...but I can see her desire for checks and balances.
I wouldn't get too concerned about a Chinese website (who probably know very little about us) that's been through google translate. We've seen how badly it can mangle European languages, imagine what errors could be introduced with a language as different as Chinese!
Wang JianLin is spending over 5 billion dollars to establish a movie industry in my current city, Qingdao, over the next few years, which he claims will eventually rival Hollywood in terms of volume of production. With this, the city will begin hosting an international film awards ceremony behind only the Oscars and Cannes, which so far all the big US studios have given their support towards. Basically, Mr.Wang clearly happy to spend for entertainment/personal interest/profile whatever. Ooh, and btw Qingdao is Southampton's sister city. Ooh er, spooky!
Dalian Wanda release official statement saying that they are not buying Southampton: http://www.wanda-group.com/2014/latestnews_0120/641.html
The Sunday Mirror's report is purely imaginary and completely inconsistent with the actual facts. Can people have these words burned into their minds when they see rumour and counter rumour on the movement of players and managers..? 99% of the time, this is the reality. 1% correct, and an Executive Chairman leaves his job.
That's a fair comment but this would be a pretty boring web site if we did not get excited about some of the rumours. The secret is not to get too confrontational about it when others don't share our view. In truth we latch on to the rumours that sit well with our liking or loathing of a particular issue (or person!!)
