Hi guys QPR fan in peace..whats happening to the Red-lion pub? My season ticket holding neighbour says that GT said on the forum that the red lion is Bassinis.Does that mean that he personally owns it and is going to use it as a pub/restuarant/development independantly and not as an asset to you guys?
At the moment the club would cost Fransen £7.1m for the bonds that aren't his, plus whatever Bassini wants. In an ideal world I suspect he would want to wait 16 months, when £4m will have been knocked off of that price and Bassini may have come to terms with the fact that if you don't know what you're doing you're probably throwing good money after bad.
I really hope that the WO can actually do some investigation into this whole mess. Bassini make a lot of claims about investing 'his' money in to various projects but is this really his money or investing the resources of the club. Does he regard the money from the summer's transfers as his money?
As a business man yes he he probably biding his time as a fan how much longer is he prepared to let things go on , as n8ive says is he investing his money or club money , or money loaned to the club? we just dont know!
At the moment we're solvent, above the relegation line, and on-pitch performances are the one thing that can't be laid at Bassini's door. As long as that remains the case and Bassini is not desperate to sell, I don't see why a would-be buyer would rush in, even if that would-be buyer happens to support the club. I don't like the situation any more than you Norway, but it makes sense on just about every level to wait until Bassini signals that he wants out.
The only thing fans can do is put pressure on Bassini to do whatever it is that he plans to do more quickly. If those are good things, wonderful. If they're not, let's get them over with.
Is funny. Laurence Bassini was ill and did not go to the Fans Forum. He could have been wise and told people he would not go a lot earlier. If he had arrived ill would you be angry with him for being ill and coming or be pleased he came? From what I read his illness is an body injury and is not from disease or virus. I am sure a wheel chair from the treatment room could have been arranged.
No you are not alone Harrow as I thought GT's statements could have been a lot more diplomatic. In many ways he has placed Bassini in a no win situation. Bad week at the office!
Come on guys! Bassini placed GT in an impossible position--he did not turn up (without any prior direct contact with GT) left GT with a sheet of paper with some notes on it, and expected him to field difficult, if not hostile, questions in his absence. This is against a previous background of impulsive even whimsical behaviour, and a pattern of acting without consulting his board. Is that a way to treat your non-executive directors? What did he expect GT to do? In the circumstances GT was measured in his reaction and quite polite. I do not think this is a well thought out plot or plan by Bassini. Neither is it stage fright followed by petulance. I think he is out of his depth and floundering, and is reverting to type in his impulsive actions and poor judgement. We need the WO to start acting like a newspaper--- to tell us the story behind his "illness" , to unravel what is now going on behind the scenes, and to investigate with a bit more energy the true state of his finances. Why does the club need more working capital now after the sales/windfalls of the Summer? Who is paying for the work on the Red Lion? The next installment of the bond repayment is due soon-- can he pay it without selling more players in January? Is the club taking on any more debt? Is Bassini taking any money out of the club in fees or expenses? What is the new management structure that Timperley mentioned at the Forum , and is this restructuring still going ahead? Bassini must realise he has a credibilty problem with the fans, but for some reason refuses to address it --in fact makes it worse by his latest behaviour. Is it really the case that he is a well intentioned owner, and a good businessman, who is just very bad at p.r? Or is there a more basic reason?
Until he comes clean on why he bought into the club, then these questions will keep on arising. Do I expect him to own up as to his real intentions? Not really. Did he worry that he would give some of this information away at the forum? I think he might well have done. Clearly the two directors at the forum didn't know half of what is going on. They were dumped in an impossible situation where they could not answer questions truthfully without at a later date being made to look foolish. Although GT is getting most of the flak over what was said that night, ST was hardly throwing compliments about. So two well respected directors words against someone who tries to hide from questions. I know which side of the argument I think is the most plausible.
Surely even if he was that ill that he couldn't attend a short brief could and should have been written and read out at the forum. Surely one of his minions could have typed it out for him! I know he could not have answered the questions that were going to be asked but a brief on the ongoing works, monies in/out, his backers? Hopefully we shall get some of the answers on the 22nd on 3CR, but that is going to be stage managed IMO! But even after all this shenanigans we still need to get behind SD and the boys! U'Orns!!! 3points will do lovely come Saturday
An unknown newcomer with a less than savoury background or a club legend ! I know which one has my trust ! I agree with Frenchie.
