The Singing Ringing Tree, was that a foreign thing that was on in the holidays? Can vaguely remember some prince or whatever changed into a bear or something by some weird spell. God what crap I used to watch at times

dr who, the cybermen scared the feck outta little me.

a little bit older and the monkees tv show (older sisters loved it so i had to watch) and basically the only kids tv we had back then that we all watched waiting for our tea before being turned out of the room when the news came on and we all looked forward to saturday morning and early afternoon telly (plenty sport and sometimes the only way to get news of your team) while sundays was sitting down and watching the movie (always seemed to be john wayne, burt lancaster, jimmy stewart, fred and ginger etc) and catweazel, worzel gummidge, muppets etc...great days!!

    The Sweeney
    Z Cars
Dixon of Dock Green Evening all
More and Mindy na noo na noo
    Tarzan
    2 Ronnies
Having listed these few and reading many others on the thread I wasn’t one for watching the tele. Always seemed to be out getting into mischief or playing footy riding around on our bikes. Out from morning till night time during school holidays.

Me and my mates used to play football on Brinky (Brinkburn School in 'Sheels) school field every day after school, no matter how muddy/wet/cold it was, and we only used to have a bath on Sunday nights ready for school the next day . . . . those were the days, when we must have been filthy :emoticon-0136-giggl

There was some foreign (Nordic I think) cartoon about a bear too which was often shown in the holidays. I can't remember the name of that one.

Cinema rather than TV, but we used to get taken to Billingham Forum to watch the matinees where they showed those Children's Film Foundation ones. I can remember going there for them, but can't recall any of the films.

Only until age 12, when we moved to Harton Moor, which was a brand new council estate and we had a real bath . . . . I wouldn't want to live there now, though a few of my mates still do

    good point actually...

i seem to remember fitting plenty of that kind of thing into my life as well as all the telly...only once went to saturday matinee down houghton flea pit and got chased off the houghton lads.

seemed to be a lot of american stuff around then that was pretty good, all changed when the soaps were 'imported', dull-arse, disentry, feckwit crest etc.
