I'm ****in killing myself again. I like hard graft. Shifts the weight better than anything I know. Balsam bashing.
Generally cycle 4-5 times per week. 10-12 miles off road on technical climbs and descents. But the surf is up at the moment, so that always takes priority
Yeah Montec rather than Montane. They are a Swedish outfit. Have a look if you fancy ? https://www.ridestore.com/uk/snow/gear/jackets?brand=1957
You're a lucky ****er. Love to surf, knees are ****ed from football and I live 30 miles from a **** coast for surfing. Can't ski either. Knees fooked. Love walking my dogs and improving my local river. Good stuff.
Yeah I'm blessed to be here. Beautiful down here today too. 4-6ft clean surf and wall to wall sunshine. Hence it's got me thinking about buying a snowboard jacket lol
You in surfers against sewage? Great movement. I have the same issue with my local river. Pumping ****, wet wipes and fanny pads into the river when it's in flood. ****s.
Yep, I'm good mates with Chris Hines who co founded SAS. They pretty much single handedly forced Water companies to clean up their act. I remember the days of surfing in really ****ty (literally) water as loads of raw sewage just used to get piped out to sea. I put my good immune system partly down to building up a bacterial resistance over the years to being exposed to all sorts of nasties in the sea
Excellent, ****ers get away with pumping raw sewage. They say it should be reported so we can clean it up. Shouldn't be there to be reported in the first place.
Walking, cycling and bodyweight exercises have been my go-tos over lockdown, as well as looking after my eating. Before I'd be in the gym 3 times a week minimum lifting, cardio and stuff, so been suffering without that. I filled a backpack full of rocks to use for some lifting at home My gym membership was suspended back in April and I've cancelled it now as I was thinking about going somewhere else anyway, I'll use the money I save from that to get some new cycling kit or maybe some weights for home. If I save enough maybe I can install a wave machine outside and get a board
They look nice enough. Prefer a shell and layering myself but that's just a preference. Do you actually snow board or plan to? Already booked my winter holiday, well accommodation at least. Couldn't help myself, saw the price of flights and decided had to secure where i was going, probably massively jumping the gun but **** it, at that time it looked unlikely we'd be going anywhere this summer. That looks more on the cards now though so all good, I hope. Was meant to run tonight but it's 30 degrees so bollocks to that, will have a beer in the garden instead. That's it for me at the minute, three runs a week. No gym, that's all cancelled and will probably never return so will have to start looking at body weight exercises before a gut forms, I'm already carrying too much tyre. Don't feel I've room or time to do that though as the kids are permanently in the house when I'm there. Junior cricket and football training is not allowed, oh no. Just best get those pubs open sharpish though.
Nah, I expect gyms will be back towards the end of July / August if everything remains stable virus wise. The way they operate and we use them will have to change significantly with social distancing obviously and very regular disinfection of equipment and stations. Most seem to be getting onto this from vids I've seen. But the fitness industry is quick changing and evolves fast these days, even though the simple, basic idea of lifting stuff and burning calories that they're built on stays the same, however they like to dress it up, so I wouldn't be surprised if new ventures open offering different types of gyms and gym spaces in the near future. Hopefully this will create a lot of places that offer nicer experiences and environments to work out in. From my use of gyms most places needed to be much more on top of hygiene and cleanliness anyway as they could be utter cesspits so that will change too, even though large amounts of the people who use them will remain dirty f*ckers
Sorry, I meant I will probably never return. Agree though, gyms themselves will. Depends on my circumstances whether I rejoin one, I generally do if I'm working away for a couple of nights a week and won't if i'm at home. At the minute I'm at home so have cancelled the one I was at. I never actually used it come to think of it, the corona kicked off so I stopped staying away and never entered the place
May rejoin gym but happy training in garden: plyometrics, yoga, qigong. Only reason to rejoin gym is perving and maybe using running machine, as I like a mix of outdoor runs and treadmill
As we spoke about before, my snowboarding is ****ing terrible, I spend more time on my arse that I do going down the slopes. My skiing isn't much better either. Mainly getting a snowboard jacket simply because it offers a bit more length. I love my TNF gore tex shell, but I just wish they were a bit longer. Went for a Volcom Gore Tex Shell in the end as I wasn't sure about the Montec 25k waterproofing as it wasn't Gore-Tex, so I reckon they were being optimistic at best. And yep prefer to layer up with a shell too. Not a fan of insulated jackets as most of the time they are just too warm, unless you're in -10 Alpine areas. Got the Volcom jacket for £130 instead of £265, so feeling justified for searching for winter gear in the middle of a heatwave
Indeed, definitely good deals about. I bought my ski bottoms for last winter in the middle of last summer and got them for peanuts. They were then selling them in the ski village when we were there for three times the price so worth doing.
