I'm off to Fuerteventura tomorrow for half term. Gonna be a toss up between surfing loads, getting out walking off the beaten track or sitting by the pool smashing the **** out of the all inclusive.

Good work fella, I ran a sub 20 min 5k last year at the age of 47, so it is very possible. My work colleague is ten years older and runs sub 40 10k!

Lots of core work helped me drop times from 20:30 to 19:30.

I'm doing lots of plyometrics at the moment and body weight stuff... handstands, etc.

And got a target to do 30 second handstands, wall walks and one-handed pushups, handstand pushups etc. Although that may take me until I am 50!

When I've achieved some of those goals I want to target a sub 40 10k this summer.

Given up tobacco and class As for 2 weeks (bar a couple of bumps on Wednesday)

I don’t think I’ve been less interested in fitness than I am now for about 5 years. It’s usually a bad sign for me on a mental level when I get bored of training but we will see.

Best to give it a short rest, mate. Or change your routine.

Yeah my diet has gone poor so I’ll need to sort that out first. Might just write February off and look at things again in March.

Force yourself back into it if at all possible. I went through the same thing years ago. I used to love training and literally overnight I fell out of love with it. Ever since it’s been a struggle, partly due to my body falling apart but mainly because I let myself slip out of a routine and never forced myself back into one. The longer I leave it the more it hurts to get through a session (it’s only running for me) so the less motivated I am to get on the road/treadmill.

Did some this morning for the fourth day in a row and no injuries so far.

Scaps worked hard but wrists seem good. Lower back a little tired so need to improve alignment/core.

Collapsed a little after one set but forward rolls are improving so hopefully avoid too many injuries. And I can pivot in and out of the handstand now rolling hips the opposite way.

Daughter does gymnastics so good thing to do together in the morn

Try something different. Do you play football, do team sports?

I’ve got a bit bored of running so may start 5 a side again, or take up something different .. capoeira or yoga. Something in a group rather than running training on your own.

Easier to train in a group/team sport than train yourself

Did a nice steady 4 miles in 42 mins yesterday.

Quite pleased with that, not gonna lie. Was comfortable fitness wise and only my right knee was giving slight gip by the end.

On the weights, packed out again so eventually found a bench and did flat bench press then decline bench press.

Not sure whether this is brilliant or anything @Tel but warm is 10 reps followed by 60 kilos then five sets of six reps with 80 kgs. Decline is one set of 8 with 60 then four sets of six with 70.

No one to spot me so not going heavier than that, don't want to end up looking a mess with a barbell pinning me to the bench. (I'm sure the Garth's out there will tel me that's fook all)

Did **** all else, nothing I wanted to do was free.

Pulling tonight so back essentially. Will do a sharp two miler to go with that.
