Yeah those gyms are packed with juicers. There's one not too far from work in Ancoats just outside town that's less roidy but it's full of hipsters, I'm ok with my current gym for now.
Yeah my mate goes and keeps telling me about it. Throwing steel barrels around, **** off iron chains round your neck, not a treadmill in sight, all the equipment you don't get in the commercial gyms which sounds good, everyone there will be juiced right up though. Switching between shooting themselves in the ass with test and popping Viagra to get their dick hard whilst looking at themselves in the mirror.
My gym is pretty good although there is the odd one. There is one guy in my gym who always wears a woman-beater, is covered in fake tan, big gold necklace and immaculate branded clothing who basically struts around nodding to people. Its ****ing hilarious!
Hows everyone doing? Anyone ever tried those crazy expensive scales which measure all sorts like muscle mass, fat mass, bone mass, water content, BMI, visceral fat rating etc?
No, I can't see them being worth the money. Just go into a boots (or they might have one at your gym) and pay a quid for the one that tells you body fat %, muscle mass and fat mass. It is not exactly accurate but will give you a rough idea and is far cheaper than those scales. Also doesn't everyone where a beater in the gym?
Down to 4 sessions a week through summer. Mainly running and core. Dropped plyometrics classes for time being as time poor. At ideal weight for summer and festivals, so all about maintenance now and maybe shedding a few seconds off my 10k PB
I'm playing squash at 5.20. It's going to be 100+ in there. I've never been less arsed to do anything than this for a long time!
The jobbie in your local Boots wont be anywhere near the level of this one. It costs me nothing as my mate brings one home from work. The fit woman in the gym don't wear a beater
Well if it is free then by all means use it, from what I have read basically none of them are very accurate and will just be a ball park figure. A bit like when treadmills tell you how many calories you have burnt.
Finally got the bike fixed, so I've been back out on the loop. ****ing roasting out there, I've been trying to leave it until 8pm at least to go, but went in the day yesterday and nearly ****ing asphyxiated it was so hot. Got a decent run of surf this week too, so got out for a few waves earlier. Much nicer paddling out into the briney when it's 28 deg, than peddling hard uphill off road on the bike
Way too hot to do anything. Played golf Friday and Saturday if that counts, both ten mile walks. Dropped the MoHo off for its MOT on Thursday and rode the bike home so I guess that's a bit more. All of the above done in searing heat!
I did, maybe my playing partners didn't! They were both team of four things but you are right, amazing to see the miles rack up (This according to my wrist GPS thingy). It's never as simple as walking in a straight line A to B.
Isn't it weird how you can have a bad week and lose weight and on the flip side have a good week and nothing happens or you put on? Swimming twice last week and gym twice = put on a smidgen!
Was probably the massive booze benders you had while England were playing! That is a lot of calories. Swim as much as you like, you won't shift that amount.
Nah I weigh myself every Saturday morning so I should have been peak. I am expecting to put on a bit this week!
Ruptured my acl end of August last year, had surgery January this year. Currently doing a bit of running, leg press, hamstring curls, lunges, other simple leg strength stuff, all with light weights. Managed to keep on top of my upper body exercises so haven't lost much muscle up top, but as I'm eating the same amount and doing much less cardio and no heavy squats I've managed to gain a decent amount of fat unfortunately. Halfway down the road to recovery though and could be playing football again in October time which really doesn't seem too far away considering how long I've been out
