He thinks I should cut my running/cardio down to 3 times a week: 4k in intervals (2 mins 13kph, 1 min 19kph) + core work 7k in intervals (3 mis 12k, 3 mins 16k) + core work 10k tempo run + core work Drop my 2 tabata, HIIT classes completely, and replace with 2 weight sessions a week, done in circuits. I like my tabata classes, nice to train with others and be moitvated by an instructor, so may still do 4 cardio sessions a week + weights. I like cardio more than weights, don't want to be ripped or anything, but appreciate that strength training will improve my 5k, 10k times. I've got to download an app which measures my resting rates at morn and night to check cortisol levels tr4z or something...
I used to train in a combat gym most mornings and head to the gym most evenings. Trust me, getting kicked and thrown around is a lot more stress inducing than a 30 minute Fartlek. I was in the best shape of my life, it is about conditioning, not whatever article he's chosen to read online on his lunch break. Folk like AJ put themselves through their paces every day to condition. He's not some fat mess who can't make gains. Sometimes PT's get all technical and forget the basics, is your diet good? Are you happy? If you can answer yes to both then he should wind his neck in.
Fair play mate. He did say everyone's body is different. My recovery time is good so I can do a lot of cardio even at the age of 46. I eat well, all home-cooked organic (bar eating out) and have a happy life pretty stress-free, so my body can handle the workouts I do. However I am always open to learning and freshening up exercise so I am going to give (some) of his ideas a go.
Since I started playing football again my friggin legs haven't stopped aching Anyone know what the pain behind the knee is?
Don’t split hairs with me, Terrence. Doing regular deadlifts and squats will burn fat faster than any other exercise you might try. The reason people don’t do them on a regular basis is because they are tough.
