I know Malton. I've got family from Sherburn and Seamer. Mountain bike marathon as in 26 miles ? What you riding ?
Was 53 mile mate. Was advertised as an 80km distance but was a bit over. Ride a Trek Top Fuel - 120mm travel front and back . Half way between a cross country bike and a trail bike. Pretty light weight for the climbs, but can get it down most stuff if required.
That's some decent mileage off road. Presume it was a mix of terrain I usually do that sort of thing over two days with some overnight camping lol Down here got a good mix of trails for daily riding, moorland, wooded valleys and rocky coastal paths.
Yes mate, pretty much all off road. 2-3 mile tops on a road. Mix of farm tracks, woodland trails and a bit of traversing fire roads and farms. It's a great route. The do 25km, 40km, 65km and 80km categories. I don't live too far away (a little North, just a few miles from Dalby Forest) and the riding (for me) is better again. Amazing mix of Moorland, forest / woodland (natural and purpose built trails), farm tracks and we have bridleways bloody everywhere - and lots of hills. It's a fantastic area for biking - even if you're into road stuff, which I avoid like the plague personally. Just does nothing for me. Where are you based? Looked amazing on the kayak yesterday.
Sounds awesome mate. I know a bit of that area from my youth but it’s years since I’ve been up there and never really explored it as a grown up lol. I’m down in the far west. Those pics from the kayak are around 1-2 miles from Land’s End. So water based activities are right on the door step here. The interior this far west is open moorland and heathland so great natural trails for MTB. A bit further up the county are some greats woods with dedicated MTB trails and bike park features.
Back in the gym, first time in a couple of weeks, trying not to injure myself again. Have had a good think/rest and accepted my place in the over the hill league of bearded men. No more heavy ****, no more battering myself in pull/push/leg 'sessions'. Time to take it easier. And, more importantly, not be hobbling around like the tin man at weekends, when I need to be not stiff and knackered. Got a nice Taylor Swift play list for company.
Being brutally bummed is a small price to pay for the physical and mental benefits of a workout. When they open non-gay gyms it won’t be the same.
Getting stronger. Up to 8 reps of the 50s on incline bench and 2 lots of 8x47.5. 14x32.5s on shoulders for three sets. Lat pull-downs at 90 I can do a full set on but building up the reps at 110. Still getting bummed but it’s fine.
Fancied something different so went down to a class at the Hove amateur boxing club. Hard work that. Thought it was going to be a nice beginner session and it was not.
Takes me back used to love all that, but it's too intense for me now More into those type of thing in the gym
