We totally dominate one of our traditional hated clubs at Wembley and people search for the downside.
Totally agree and the Hull City squad Bruce had that season was far better then his Villa squad this season. A fact I told Villa fans after the game at the KC.
The way things look the far better squad could apply come August. I do hope the FA sanction the home and away games 5 a side.
The second leg v Derby wasn't so good, and reflected what they say at Villa about him being too defensive and not having a plan b. Both us and Villa were definitely among the favourites for automatic promotion but bad runs meant both teams finished in clear 4th (6 or 5 points behind 3rd place).
Not a fan of Collymore, however he is a big fan of Villa and expects Villas demise to be more catastrophic than Pompey and Leeds
Apart from a slight change in goal difference the final table was actually the same with Villa as with us: 24 wins, 11 draws 11 defeats and 83 points, So they got what they should have expected, some bits of brilliance like we have with Diame they had with Grealish, but a team that didn't always look a team unlike those who got automatic promotion.
In 66 when we won the WC, we got a fluke goal that should never have been given, and Ramsey was too defensive, did away with wingers, still needed home advantage, Russian linesmen and extra time to get past Fritz. Sir Alf= rubbish.
I looked at the main companies accounts a few days ago and Recon Football Limited (formerly Aston Villa Limited), which owns the commercial operations and the football club, suffered an "exceptional impairment" of £197m in 2015-2016 - presumably because of relegation.
it's more like a change in valuation rather than cash or debt while Villa do have cash flow problems I think it's more that the owner doesn't want to keep putting in £1m a week (he might not be able to get his money out of China easily)
Think he stopped a couple of months back.Rolled the dice on them winning the play off final. Oooooops.
