3-1 FT Huddersfield have thrown away a 2-0 lead against Orient. 3 points clear of Sheffield Utd. Hartlepool in third. Good day at the office
So pleased for Hartlepool - that imaginative season ticket scheme and their outstanding 'surprise signing' both paying off handsomely - good for them.
Just checked the stats - a mind-boggling 25 attempts on goal, 14 on target. MK Dons will be a different proposition, but after this I seriously fancy us for a win.
Yes indeed, eddie - replaced Mooney, as well! Good day for old boys again. McGleish and Anyinsah on target for the Pirates and Sam Sodje popping up with a late one as well.
Tweet from the BBC commentator at The Valley today - "At the risk of telling you something you already know, Chris Powell really is one of the nicest men in football. Good manager too". #cafc@JacquiOatley 6 mins ago And so say all of us.
Great day - great win and big thanks to BWP whose 90th min goal made up my goal mins @ 210. Mega bone to celebrate.
Yann Kermorgant was class for me when he came on today - So much better than what Jason Euell has offered this season. Great ball control / passing dont think he had one heavy touch or miss-placed in the 10mins he played, if he's got a good finish on him along with a bit of pace I wouldnt be surprised to see him replace Paul Hayes in the starting 11. Could be one of the best Free Transfers seen at Charlton....
Just got back . A game of 2 halves this one. Outplayed them for the first half then let them back in, and only seemed to waken up when the ref digracefully booked Taylor for diving when he was a long way away and missed a stonewall penalty. I particularly liked the "Are you Torres in disguise" after Clarke's horror miss, and he also received a few choruses of "Paolo di Canio" Kermogent came on with 10 minutes left and looked a very composed intelligent player.
We have to make things hard don't we. Thought solly had another great game, and hamer was solid, bring on MK dons!
I couldn't get down there today beacuse I'm at bloody work... Anyway, I'm loving the early reports on Yann Kermorgant. There were one or two Foxes who popped in here upon news of him signing for us. Most of whom said he'll put a shift in for us. Nothing wrong with a bit of competition for places up top...!!
Agree with the positivity re Kermorgant, his control and lay off for BWP's goal was superb. First half was tremendous, should have been at least 4-0, the whole team played well, Hayes and BWP linking all the time, every player backed up. Second half Chesterfield were really pumped up and Westcarr, Whittaker and Clarke caused a lot of problems. Eventually we sorted ourselves out and started passing it around, when we do that no team in this league can keep us out. We were perhaps lucky not to concede a penalty when the ball looked like it hit Wiggins' arm in the box, the one that was given was probably right. I thought we were unlucky not to get one when Taylor (?) was booked for diving. Good day overall.
Kermorgant did indeed look very composed on the ball and I suspect that when he is fit the partnership with BWP will blossom. Solly was really sound today and it would be difficult to imagine his name not being on the teamsheet at the moment. Wiggins and Jackson had a good game as well. The referee to quote my Father in law was "bloody contrary and didn't seem to know what he was doing". The penalty was outrageous since play should have been pulled back for the foul on Wagstaff, couldn't see if the penalty was justified from the NWQ but it didn't seem to be, bet you the Television doesnt show the foul on Waggy or the supposed dive for the ungiven penalty that left our player showing the referee the stud marks on his leg but still getting a booking. Contrary decisions from the ref and the lino on the east stand side both of whom would happily have seen our players being trampled in the mud but gave a foul for the merest touch on one the Chesterfield players. We deserved to win by more than we did and I loved the calls of "paulo di Canio" evry time Clarke was involved in anything. Good to see the Valley with 22,000 people in it and hope some of them will come back next time against Tranmere.
Yum - just had a celebration meal of a damned great steak, a pile of onion rings, loads of curly fries, a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon and er, two statins. You've just got to haven't you? It's good to win, it's good to look forward to games, it's good to be playing smooth, intelligent football, it's good to be top of the table - it's good to be a Charlton Athletic supporter. Come on you Reds!
That sounds amazing tewkes- especially the Curley fries! My celebration/hangover meal consisted of Tom yum soup, Singapore fried noodles with extra chilli, and a side of shredded lamb.
