I'd rather have an anchor behind another two CMs than one attacking with two behind him, I think that'd leave us a bit exposed against any kind of organised midfield. I'm not sure where Gaston really fits in there, it'd be far deeper than he's used to.
I thought Clyne was good throughout, Targett had his moments, as did Isgrove. Tadic a bit anonymous, and Pelle a bit limited by the service he got, but sound. Good workout but hopefully not representative of how we'll line up in the PL. Good to see us maintains the pressing game though.

Just back from the game via the pub! Pelle is going to be very good for us. Strong, good close ball control, wins most of his headers which go to a team mate, is very quick over a short distance to upset defenders and rarely loses the ball. He also works very hard and people who say "he is not mobile" have clearly not seen him play. He is a good replacement for Rickie the only thing he lacks is R ability to pick a penetrating long ball.He will score goals for us I am sure and contribute to the team overall. Tadich is good but will take a bit longer to adjust to the pace of the game here. Clyne outstanding in defense and attack motm in my opinion 27 and 30 played well ( not listed in the programe) assume Target and Isgrove? Jury out on Ramiries played well in patches but gave the ball away to often for my liking Mayuka is not going to make it. Fonte captain and seemed to be in control First half rely good watching. Bmth are a good side and will be ok in championship 2nd not so good as became disjointed with all the subs. Cork and Reed did fine and even Jos was ok Am far happier having watched this game that we will do ok this season with a couple of additions
