Life might have been very slightly more difficult but for that last minute Rochdale equaliser. I think fate has demonstrated one thing this season, that some things are just meant to be. It is like the trophy is teasing at the very end of our finger tips, but no matter what, my confidence in fate says it is only a matter of time, before both hands are firmly on that cup.
All in all Should make make for a great atmosphere next week. Would settle for 0 0 but a couple of goals would settle the nerves. Can't wait.
Can't wait for it now, in one way this is good as we can win it at home now which is what I think many of us wanted.
Gills obviously came to try to avoid defeat ( again ). The possession was about 50/50, although Cheltenham probably had slightly the better quality on display. This was mainly because we tended to sit back too much. To defend these tactics I will say that there wasn't much quality in terms of shots by either side. Gills have deployed the same tactics for several away games - achieving comparitive success - but today one lapse of concentration undone them. The goal was a good header - but the marking was poor. Cheltenham then remained strong as they defended the lead. I believe they were helped by some shocking refereeing decisions - which nearly all seemed to go in favour of the home side. I also think that the referee caused confusion amongst the Gills players - as they saw challenges, which were either as bad or worse by Cheltenham, go unpunished - only to be penalised a moment later for 'virtually nothing'. When the stadium announcer called the man of the match a few minutes from the end the Gills fans interrupted - and to a man shouted ' The referee '
When I got in last night , despite seeing us lose 1-0 , I was not bothered . After the final whistle yesterday the players got a magnificent reception despite putting in what was a "poor " performance . Yes the pitch was bad but we didn't really create anything . But as I said earlier on it was a weird feeling knowing you had lost but closed in on the title . I think that is one of the worst I have seen us play this year , but we were against 12 men with the referee having a shocker , two good things come from yesterday though. Port vale drawing late on and the amazing support , we were allocated 1420 and somehow had 1449 in the away end , great support . We now move on to AFC Wimbledon , a team fighting for their lives now we SHOULD getting something out of the game , but they have good players . UTG ... My MOM was either whelpdale or Barrett
