At about this time of year someone usually posts a question about the entries and weights for Cheltenham, so I thought I'd beat you to it this time!

I've just had an email confirming when the entries will be released to the public, and therefore when I will be putting up a thread for people's information.

Please note that as further entry news comes to light it will be added under the appropriate race heading. All Cheltenham race threads can be located via the Cheltenham Festival Previews Index

The dates and races are as follows:

Wednesday, January 11 - entries - Betfred Cheltenham Gold Cup.

Thursday, January 12 - entries – sportingbet.com Queen Mother Champion Chase & Ryanair Chase.

Wednesday, January 18 - entries – Stan James Champion Hurdle.

Thursday, January 19 - entries - Ladbrokes World Hurdle.

Thursday, January 26 - entries - Arkle Trophy, RSA Chase, Diamond Jubilee National Hunt Chase and Jewson Novices’ Chase.

Thursday, February 2 - entries – William Hill Supreme Novices’ Hurdle, Neptune Investment Management Novices’ Hurdle, JCB Triumph Hurdle & Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle.

Wednesday, February 15 – latest entries following scratchings deadline - Betfred Cheltenham Gold Cup, sportingbet.com Queen Mother Champion Chase, Ryanair Chase, Stan James Champion Hurdle & Ladbrokes World Hurdle.

Wednesday, February 22 – latest entries following scratchings deadline - Arkle Trophy, RSA Chase, Diamond Jubilee National Hunt Chase, Jewson Novices’ Chase, William Hill Supreme Novices’ Hurdle, Neptune Investment Management Novices’ Hurdle, JCB Triumph Hurdle & Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle.

Thursday, February 23 - entries - JLT Specialty Chase, Fred Winter Juvenile Handicap Hurdle, Glenfarclas Cross Country Handicap Steeple Chase, Coral Cup, Fulke Walwyn Kim Muir Challenge Cup Handicap Chase, Cheltenham Novices’ Handicap Chase, Byrne Group Plate, Pertemps Final, Martin Pipe Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle, Johnny Henderson Grand Annual Handicap Chase and Vincent O’Brien County Handicap Hurdle.

Wednesday, February 29 - weights - JLT Specialty Chase, Fred Winter Juvenile Handicap Hurdle, Glenfarclas Cross Country Handicap Steeple Chase, Coral Cup, Fulke Walwyn Kim Muir Challenge Cup Handicap Chase, Cheltenham Novices’ Handicap Chase, Byrne Group Plate, Pertemps Final, Martin Pipe Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle, Johnny Henderson Grand Annual Handicap Chase and Vincent O’Brien County Handicap Hurdle.

I think that just about covers everything! The emails are usually embargoed until midday, so I will aim to have them up early afternoon.

Yes I can do that, it's not a problem.

I think they may also be making the packs available on the Cheltenham website this year so it might be easier for people to download it themselves. I will check nearer the time.

The Skybet Chase (3m1f on first day) entries are also out today with the weights published a week today.

Skybet ? Is that the old Billy Hills Chase ?
And weights out in a week ? I thought all handicaps were announced together, PN has said this will be 29 Feb.

The Sky Bet Chase is run at Doncaster on the 28th January. I think there might have been some confusion! <laugh>
 
According to the Programme Book, the weights are based on ratings up to the 27th Feb for the Festival Handicap (only race over 3m 1/2f on Day One), or whatever they're calling it now!

The entries are not due till 22nd Feb for this race.

I'll put up a list in full for all the races, not just the big ones.

Champion Hurdle - entries close 18th Jan (£430 + £860 + £430). Supplementary entries 9th March (£18,500)

Arkle Steeplechase - entries close 25th Jan (£160 + £320). No supplementary stage

Supreme Novices Hurdle - entries close 1st Feb (£125 + £250 + £125). No supplementary stage

Festival Handicap Chase - entries close 22nd Feb (£90 + £270). No supplementary stage

Centenary Novices Handicap Chase - entries close 22nd Feb (£65 + £195). No supplementary stage

The Glenfarclas Cross Country Chase - entries close 22nd Feb (£65 + £160). No supplementary stage

David Nicholson Mares' Hurdle - entries close 1st March (£90 + £270). No supplementary stage


Day 2 - 16th March

Queen Mother Champion Chase -entries close 11th January (£400 + £800 + £400). Supplementary entries 10th March (£16,000)

RSA Chase - entries close 25th Jan (£160 + £320 + £160). No supplementary stage

Amateur Riders Chase Challenge Cup - entries close 25th Jan (£90 + £180 + £90). No supplementary stage

Neptune Investment Novices' Hurdle - entries close 1st Feb (£125 + £250 + £125). No supplementary stage

Coral Cup - entries close 22nd Feb (£85 + £255). No supplementary stage

Fred Winter Juvenile Hurdle - entries close 22nd Feb (£85 + £255). No supplementary stage

Sorry for the confusion - it was me being a dickhead. I just saw the headline about Hold On Julio and thought it was referring to the old Billy Hill Chase <doh>

I was multitasking in the office (trying to read sporting life website whilst eating a Lion bar and trying to look busy) which is enough to confuse anyone - sorry about that

I'm much more coherent now sat at home with a bottle of Warsteiner
