" She has lots of talent and even when some of the others horses aren't running up to scratch she brings her A game" W Mullins
Incredible how the prizemoney in certain events has remained almost static. The festival opener was worth £52,200 ten years ago and only £56,800 odd today.
There's money to be made laying these Mullins horses at the festival. Would anyone want to take a short price about them after today?
Funny day to start the festival rolling. Obvious massive disappointment that the Hurricane was merely a gentle breeze rather than the force of nature we've come to expect. He's clearly run massively below form and again shows that these aren't machines. I think there can be little doubt some of Mullins horses aren't running up to scratch so enthusiasm is slightly tempered for Boston Bon later on in the week but, heck, Quevega she's something else... Two out of three 'bankers' landed I thought most of us expected a slip up somewhere and we got it. The four champions regaining their crown hoodoo continues....
Anyone else know how to get an overdraft from Ron for this comp he's running, I don't think I'm the only one whose gone 'tits up' already in it
Day one over and £7.75 down for the day, can live with that but in real terms ive lost a few accum and L15S so not a good day really 3 days left to battle and win the war Stay frosty

Not a good day for racing. Three horses lost at Cheltenham today. RIP Educating Evans, Garde Champetre and Scotsirish. Thoughts and condolences to connections, particularly the stable lads/lasses. No worse feeling than taking a horse box home with an empty stall
That is awful news. Condolences to all concerned with these three fine racehorses. RIP Educating Evans, Garde Champetre and Scotsirish.
Hi guys, sorry not trying to aftertime here but I have a quick question: I backed Kentford Grey Lady in the market without Quevega, so it was a winning bet. However they put the wrong price on my ticket, instead of putting 11/2 they put the price for the normal market, 12/1. When I went to collect they said it was a mistake and would only pay out at the correct odds of 11/2 despite my ticket clearly showing the odds of 12/1 that I had been given! What odds should I have been paid out at??
I got my money back on Hunt Ball in the last. That said I didn't really put much on today with the three short priced favourites.
I'm not sure but I suspect if the wrong price was on the docket their within their rights to pay you out at the correct odds. Very sad news about these three horses. Puts a few losing bets into perspective...
Cheers Beef, I knew the price was a mistake as soon as they gave me the ticket but thought I'd try my luck. Oh well something is better than nothing I guess, especially after a tough first day!!
Even though I was on Hurricane Fly there can be no excuses, they got racing early and the sting was drawn out of him. He didn't have enough left in the tank to land a blow simple as that. Fair play to Rock On Ruby, Walsh rejected him, Jacobs rejected him, but he's proved them both wrong today. Realy pleased for Noel Fehily, if there was a jockey who deserved abit of good fortune it would be him. Though he still gave the horse a cracking ride
Experienced the highs and lows of racing at Cheltenham today. Sprinter Sacre and Quevega the highs, Hurricane Fly depserately disappointing, and we left the course around 5.30 looking at the screens around Educated Evans and Wayne Hutchinson looking distraught walking up the hill ........................
