Hi all, Will update the spreadsheet with the recent ante post bets put up here. My ante post betting is usually restricted to 1 ante post bet at Cheltenham as honestly I am not really a fan of this way of betting, but if I m running a spreadsheet on these bets it's only fair I get involved myself. Going bit mad this time with 2 ante post bet slips: Champion Hurdle - Saldier 20/1 each way NRNB. Looked a superstar when winning the Morgiana last season, is fragile and of course he has an entry in the Irish Chsmpion Hurdle on weekend. Will be interesting to see how he fairs. I ll be hoping for a better run than his first run this season. Hunters Chase - Aloneamongmillions 33/1 NRNB each way. Finished lame in the Naas Hunters Chase on the weekend but showed up well for the majority of the race. He looks a strapping fella, has some quality about him based on previous runs and at a price could run well March time.
1 ante post bet I'm not sure the 'rules' on here regarding discussing stakes and so on... but I'm close to 550 ante post bets
Wow I m speechless...that's a ridiculous amount of bets Kevloaf but good luck with that portfolio. I would say ordinarily if you could let me have a list of them then I' ll add them to the spreadsheet but don't fancy adding 550 entries... If you want to say let me know your top 10 then I will add them. Its just a bit of fun to see how well ante post betting fairs over the festival.
If Irish Cesarewitch winner, Cape Gentleman- very impressive in his first hurdles run- disposes of Gaillard Du Mesnil &Co. in the opener at Leopardstown today, then his 25/1 odds for the 3 mile Albert Bartlett at Cheltenham will tumble right down. Apart from one mistake at Punchestown, he jumped like a stag. He’ll relish any cut in the ground both today and at Cheltenham- and his stamina is assured.
Haha, all listed up too, although only members can see I've just popped on to drop a 'stat' that I found amazing.... ..... as of right now....... The British only have 13 horses under 10/1 ante post over all 28 races (and that includes Royal Pagaille twice in the NH Chase and RSA and he's unlikely to run in either)! Whatever Ireland are to win the Prestbury Cup, it's value
Withdrawn from both races, no reason given. Maybe he goes in one of the handicaps or waits for Aintree
Champagne Platinum, currently, 'blue' across the board on Oddschecker after earlier this afternoon qualifying for the Pertemps Final - best priced 9/1, although 8/1 NRNB is available at the time of writing. Ran off 138 when qualifying and I would imagine his mark would remain somewhere around this figure following the handicappers assessment.
Duffle Coat has had an issue and Elliot saying “it’s going to be very tight with regard to Cheltenham. It will be touch and go whether we make it or not”
My first foray. Little acca on these. Bob Olinger Ballymore Monkfish Brown Advisory Chacun Pour Soi Champion Chase Sir Gerhard Champ Bumper Envoi Alllen Marsh Elimay PP Mares Chase
Yes, that has been rumoured for a month or more. You have to have a middle age mentality to think like that. It's stupid that when you have a horse that can do well in a Festival race you don't let him run because of a silly thing. Absolutely stupid.
Thanks all - spreadsheet updated. With a little under 2 weeks to go there is still time to put up your ante post Cheltenham bets and I can add them to my spreadsheet. At the end of the 4 days I will let you know how successful ante post betting has been! I wonder if the moving of some of these horses out of Gordon Elliott's yard will impact on accumulators a lot of people have. Envoi Allen being the obvious one - will the move to another yard upset him? I see Paul Nicholls gave his views on this saying its far from ideal and I guess it depends on how strong a constitution a horse has and how hardy the horse is.
I see that the forum's favourite trainer has said that he may give 2 of his Grand National hopefuls 'preps' for Aintree by running them at the Festival. Namely OK Corral and Pym. Nice to know from a punting perspective as for both Cheltenham, should they go there, would be the hors d'oeuvre rather than the main course. Pym could also go somewhere over hurdles, as a prep, as his mark in this sphere is lower. and therefore highly exploitable. Even as a 'prep' this would be an interesting move, methinks.
Can be pretend Ron.. I have been adding you to the spreadsheet. Come on peeps get your ante-post selections up - some of you have been rather secretive!
